Deferred until Spring 2014: Possible to appeal?

I was offered admission for Spring 2014, instead of Fall 2013. While I'm happy to have been accepted (for business management), I was wondering if the Admissions Office accepts appeal requests to enroll (not through Freshman Connection) in Fall 2013.

Obviously not 100% of the accepted applicants will choose to attend, so open spots will arise.

Thanks

I’m having the exact same problem and wondering the same things about possibly being able to attend in Fall 2013 instead of waiting until spring 2014. If you find anything out please let me know!

From what I have read, you are able to attend in the Fall only through the Freshman Connection Program (for students deferred until Spring 2014). Here’s the info: [Office Of Extended Studies - University of Maryland](<a href=“Home | University of Maryland Extended Studies”>Home | University of Maryland Extended Studies)

And also, if you decide to take classes in the Fall, you will either have to commute from home, or pay for off-campus housing (ex: [College Park Apartments & University of Maryland Housing | University View](http://www.universityview.net))

Seems really inconvenient. But I guess it would be better than having to transfer out of another school after just one semester.

Yeah! That’s what I have read too. It does sound really inconvenient in all aspects. I just wish I could have been admitted to the Fall. This makes for a tough decision and I feel like unnecessary measures to attend the school that you really want to go to! What do you think you’re going to do?

I know numerous people who did this and they said it wasn’t so bad. Some commuted and despite the distance, they said that they began enjoying the hour drive and listened to music. Others took some super cheap community college credits. It’s up to you.

They do have an admission appeals process in place though I really don’t think it is about the diff between a fall or a spring admit;it is for those who were not at all admitted. Personally, a spring admit is a bonus-you get extra time to travel or earn money and just to grow up. There are many great gap year opportunities out there. OR, find out how many credits UMD will let you transfer in and take some CC or online courses-or do the LEP.

A spring admit is not a bad thing and can really be a bonus. Embrace the opportunities it brings.

I’m also a Spring 2014 admit. It sort of has hindering my chances of attending college park, but now I’m in the process of solidifying a study abroad program and making sure the credits transfer to UMDCP before going through with it.

guys I was rejected :’-( not offered anything. can anybody tell me what to do if I wanna get in at least something? I applied for engineering but I knew it would be hard to get in, but I though if not, I’d at least be offered something, like the college of sciences.
my 1st choice was engg, and 2nd was mathematics. SAT scores were 1910 (SAT 1) and 2080 (SAT 2). yeah I knew they’re a bit low but they certainly cant be the lowest around! we dont have GPA at my school but I’m doing Cambridge Advanced Levels and my grades were good.

please help by giving suggestions as to what I can do and get into at least something. being outright rejected was a big and unexpected shock
