deferred vs. regular RD

Does anyone know the stats breakdown for whether or not you have a better/worse shot if you're applying for the first time regular or if you've been deferred from the ED group? I suppose you'd have a worse shot, because if they liked you then they would've accepted you. But is this really the case?

And how bad does it kill me if there are 3 other guys applying from my school with ridiculiously great (but very diff) apps?

I heard it was a better shot, because they know that Princeton was/is your first choice, meaning you'd still probably be more willing to matriculate than an RD applicant.

good question

i wonder what the stats are for % of deferred students admitted in april. anyone know?

Someone said it was exactly 14% of deferrals, but they might have just been guessing.

^Yeah I read that post too.

It's just funny to me cos college books and sites have every stat imaginable for admission, but I've never seen the percentage for deferral vs regular, which if you're applying early is a meaningful stat.

Deferral = You were good, but not great. You also showed interest in the school.
RD = You're a random person.

ya i heard 14% too. hmmm, that would still be better than just RDs
