I got deferred the other day until the see my seventh semester grades. Obviously quite disappointing. My grades should be straight a's and a c in ap literature.
Some one please chance me at getting in.....

Rose-Hulman is concerned about their yield so they don't want to admit students that they think will be admitted to other schools and choose to attend elsewhere. If Rose-Hulman is your first choice and you reiterate that when your seventh semester grades are sent, I think you'll be admitted.

Your stats look pretty good. The most important thing is your high school transcript should be A's and B's, especially in the math and science classes, with more A's than B's. Also, taking the toughest courses your high school offers helps.

The most important thing is your grades in AP chemistry and your math class (what math are you taking btw?)

Sweet, hopefully you are right ohnocollegeapps, but ya to nic767 i am in calculus. Its just college prep or watnot, but courses at my school would be ap elsewhere. I should have an a in calculus and in Ap chemistry.

my counselor told me i should call the admissions officer and ask him/her what to do to get myself in (ie take sat again, raise grades, etc.) but her main reasoning was that it would show strong interest in the college. This sounds a bit sketch to me....Anyone care to share a thought on this?

Sounds like a good plan to me. Just talk to them about the school and what you think of it and ask them about the deferral. If you come off as sincere, it will help.

no email! it is not personal and trust me, you are not bothering them!
they want to see you are interested!
phone them ASAP
sound eager and positive
and you will get in!

haha...ill try not too. Its a habit i'm trying to quit...........:D
So what would you say if you were in my position.
BTW Rose is not my top school, although i do really like it and would definately consider it, should I stretch that though to say i am absolutely obsessed and just have to go there? I mean is honesty really the best policy? I know you can be more coy once you have been accepted, to get them to throw money at you, but it seems you better act really intersted (like say its your top school) if you want to get in

not sure they will throw lots of money your way...my son has never gotten a B in his whole life darn near perfect SAT and I doubt if he gets too much from rose
but we are hoping too
