So I got deferred to Tulane, even though my counselor only made me apply there because she said I'd get accepted with a good scholarship. So I'm a bit confused, could it be possible that they just didn't receive my materials in time or is Tulane actually that competitive? I did submit my application Nov 14 (Day before the deadline)
I don't really know much about Tulane but I was looking at some of the stats of those who were accepted and it seems pretty competitive.
Here are my stats:
SAT: 2130
GPA: 4.1
AP Classes: 6 Total
Maximum EC's
I did the optional essay as well.

Wow. I’m really surprised too. I’m in the same boat. Crazy isn’t it?

Question: “Does your HS send any students to Tulane?” At times, schools will “flag” a certain HS for having a large number of kids apply and be accepted but do not attend. If your GC is giving the same advice to many of your classmates each year, and is not sending any students, this is a possible reason as to why you may have been moved to the RD pool.

Sorry to jump in on your thread, but I have a question too. I applied EA to Tulane as a “safety” as my GC said I’d get tonnnsss of money there. im third in my class at a very competitive hs, 2250 sat. I submitted the app on november 4, and I have not heard back. the site says my app is complete though…

I’m thinkin given the last few recent deferrals on CC (and some that I know IRL) that Tulane has “hit” its target for EA acceptances at this point…have put out a certain target # of acceptances with and without scholarhip offers and now they are in a “wait and see” mode to see who will bite…

If you are truly interested in attending, let them know…and then pour yourself into your other applications…

my guess (and this is only a guess) is that when ED acceptances from all the other schools flush out next week, this will free up when withdrawals are submitted…

Oh that stinks! Send them a letter saying that it’s still your number 1 school. If you want some essay help let me know (I got in)

It wasn’t my school’s counselor, it was another college counselor we hired. She kind of made me apply even though I didn’t see myself really attending in the future. I felt bad applying since I wasn’t that interested and I’d just be wasting their time with my app. I guess I was just a little worried that if I was deferred at my backup, then I might be totally screwed for my reaches.
But Thanks for the Feedback!

That is really strange. I have a 3.8 UW gpa, 29 ACT, and 1890 SAT, and I got in…
