Seems as if all deferrals are coming today…i will likely be joining you, best of luck!

Any thoughts on me? I was deferred, but it only makes sense as a result of my GPA. My ECs, recs, and essays are waaay above average.

GPA: 87.3
SAT: 1980
ECs: waaay above average
Essays: waaay above average
Recs: waaay above average
Course rigor: above average, especially in the english and social studies departments (about 7 APs and 5-7 honors classes by graduation)
School: very prestigious public school

If you need more info, please let me know.

Deferred here as well

GPA: I would say around a 3.6 (private NYC school doesn’t do gpa point-wise)
SAT: 1390/1600 (2040/2400)

Thoughts? Should I wait for RD?

Santana-i think you should receive favorable consideration…3.6 is about a 91 on a 100 point scale

@politicalnerd12 thanks. Does it hurt that I applied to the SOM?

@santana - i believe it will make it tougher, but they could still accept you to harper

I live in NYC and received word today: deferred. The letter says I’ll receive word on RD by April 1; does anyone know if they start sending out decisions much earlier than that?

@whichwillitbe…yes, i’ve heard that they do, but someone please correct me if you believe that i am wrong

Got deferred from the SOM. I’m actually quite proud, considering it’s the most competitive of the colleges. Would anyone happen to know if you are considered for the College of Arts and Sciences if you were deferred from one school?

Deferred :/

It seems a lot of kids who applied through som or Watson are getting put into Harpur. I was deferred from som yesterday, 3.8 weighted gpa and 1300/1600 and 2010/2400 sat.

I applied to Watson, but I got into Harpur instead. But they never wrote anywhere on the acceptance letter that I was deferred from Watson. For those who were deferred from SOM, did they officially tell you that or you just assumed?

Deferred – 93.00 GPA and 1240/1600 … 1860/2400 sat.
Guess we’ll have to wait a little longer!

The good ol’ line… At least we weren’t rejected!

When Bing. came to my school, the admissions officer said that they never defer; is this a new thing?

Ddefferred to binghamton som as well…the letter doesn’t say you were defferred from som. it just says that the admissions board hasn’t made a final decision blah blah blah. It’s so generi and it doesn’t specify anything. I’m so confused/ ****ed.

I didn’t realizing that applying to the SOM would make it so much harder. Based on what the admissions counselor said when he came to my school, he said that with my stats he would be very surprised if students with stats above the averages from last year were rejected, considering my schools prestige in the state of New York.

The deferral has to be a result of applying to SOM, as I have friends that were accepted to Harpur with MUCH lower GPAs and scores than I.

Just to give you an idea:
GPA: 3.7 out of 4.0
SATS: 1390/1600 , 2040/2400
Course Load: 5 APs, Over 10 Honors Classes, and 2 College Classes by Graduation
Extra-Curriculars:

To give you guys a little hope I have a friend who was deferred last year from Harpur and was accepted a month later. I know someone else who was deferred, accepted shortly after AND received scholarship money. So there is hope for sure, just gotta pray we are as lucky as them.

I appreciate your guys thoughts, nice to know that other people are in the same boat.

deffered w/1310, 12 APs, all-state athlete, really good extracurriculars, recs and essays. (good gpa as well)

but they accepted my brother with no ecs, a lower gpa and a 1180…

Anyone who still hasn’t received any letter yet?

I was deffered from SOM as well. So now when, I hear back from them for RD will I remain in the SOM pool or get automatically considered for Harpur? The letter never specified if I was deferred from Bing in general, or the just the SOM
