Decisions for early admission came out today and I received a notice that I was deferred until March 19th. Here's just some background stuff right now;

1920/1310 SAT and a 31 ACT.
3.7 weighted GPA
4 years of lacrosse
400 service hours
13 honors
3 AP
2 Dual enrollment

I'm thinking as its my grades sitting at a 3.7 weighted and with a D in Calc and three C's last year. One C was in a dual enrollment Spanish but honestly the teacher for that class wasn't exactly good. I'm sitting in another DE class and I've got a solid 90 so I'm hoping when I send in midterms they'll see that. What are my chances to get in on that second round?

I think you have a really good chance with your test scores and gpa. Honestly, it’s probably your lack of AP courses/rigor. I also got deferred. Do you know if we could submit a February ACT score? The next deadline is January 12th I think. Does that apply to the applicants that were deferred?

Your D in calculus was likely what got you deferred. In recent years FSU has been cracking down on applicants with grades below a C on their transcript, even in advanced classes such as calculus.

There’s a pretty good chance that you will be accepted at the March decision date. You will likely have to send in your grades from this semester, and what FSU will want to see is that you haven’t slacked off and that your grades are good. If you have good grades (aim for at most 1 C, and nothing below that), then they will likely accept you.

Agreed - they want to see grades and course rigor on an upward trajectory as you move through HS. Having 3 C’s and a D in your junior year is a problem as you are headed the wrong direction…still you have the overalls, so showing improvement may help.
