Anyone else deferred from EA? Kinda thought I was OK stats wise. Thinking maybe they drew a line under a score level…seems to be around 29 ACT…and deferred the rest of us…anyone?

I was accepted with 28 ACT. I had a 1990 SAT though. It probably wasn’t score based with 29 ACT, but I don’t know. I’m sure you’ll get accepted

Anyone else deferred?

I posted this in another thread, but here goes…My son was also Deferred. He had a 4.83 GPA this semester…a 4.20 Cumulative. Has 4.0 GPA in his PSEO classes of Calculus II (105 average - highest in his class) and Philosophy. Currently taking PSEO Financial Accounting, Astronomy and Psychology. He made a 31 on his ACT (34 in Math and a 750 on Math II Subject Test). A.P. Bio, A.P. Computer Science (with a 107 average), A.P. Physics, Dual Enrollment English (All A’s). Captain of Robotics team x3 years! - Competed at World Tournament - Twice! Varsity Lacrosse player x2 years, Varsity Cross Country Runner x2 years, School Representative for Leadership Conference. Held a part-time job during the summer. Has experience working with Alzheimer’s patients. As a Junior in high school, he was asked by a graduate professor of Physics at OSU to apply to FEH (Honors Engineering). Can actually sit and discuss subjects like quantum physics and string theory… (subject matter that I certainly never heard of in high school) Maybe it was his essay they hated? Maybe they reached their quota for applicants and his application was processed after that quota? Maybe I shouldn’t have called and asked about the delayed EA decisions and how that would affect scholarships and housing? I really don’t know. I do know that we’ve had alot of parents and teachers at the school that were shocked at the decision. As a parent (that is obviously a little biased :), I think that the “computer glitch” that help up his EA application had something to do with it. I really don’t see why his credentials wouldn’t get him accepted. He’s applying to more competitive schools and has been accepted elsewhere. OSU is close to home and it was at the top of his list and mine. Hopefully he will be moved to “Accepted” status…more waiting :)

Just got deferred w similar stats to your son’s, collegetimesfour. Also applied EA (Aeronautical Engineering). Due to a computer glitch/common app issues that OSU experienced they’ve been processing my app as RD but sent me an unsolicited email mid Dec assuring me that I was still getting full consideration for all merit scholarships and honors programs. I’ve been accepted to several equally or more competitive and compelling schools in the meantime fortunately. OSU is now way down on my list. Good luck to your son. He will do great and be an asset to whatever school he chooses.

I was accepted for EA. 4.4 weighted (3.9 unweighted), 28 ACT, 4 AP’s, 40th in a class of 600. I’m in NHS, treasurer of school’s Red Cross club, have worked ~15 hours every week since fall of sophomore year, I went to New York to participate in National Student Leadership Conference, saw the inauguration last year with Lead America (like NSLC), I had a one-week internship over this summer in Chicago, and my teacher rec was really awesome (what she told me). I was accepted and offered a healthy scholarship (I’m in-state). I hope your son gets in!

A friend and I had a 27 and 28 respectively… Both of us are in the top 10 percent and we both have 3.9+ gap’s (our school doesn’t do weighted). Another friend got in with a 29 and he is a valedictorian. All of us are in NHS and are variety athletes. In addition to that, two of us are class officers. I am the President of our science club, and the other two have positions in NHS. We all applied to the Arts and Science college
