Deferred

Got deferred with a 29 act and 3.3 gap at a very competitive high school and looking to major in visual communications-graphic design. internship as well as two sport varsity athlete with state titles and captain positions. good recs and essays as well as extensive volunteering and involvement in my school and community. what do you think my chances are of being accepted and when do they let deferred students know? Do they wait until the end of regular decision or could it be before then? freaking out-help.

Website states deferred students generally receive a decision by the end of March…good luck!

I also got deferred with a 28 act and 3.66. I feel your pain:/ I’ve heard many different opinions on being deferred. I heard it’s better than being wait listed but I also hear it’s not promising either. I’m not sure what to think

When did you find out? Via admission status link or email? Did you apply early action?

i just checked my application status online @Artist709

If anyone deferred considered that their admissions or financial safety, then I recommend quickly choosing another safety just in case. Amazing to hear of these deferrals – the flagship universities get more competitive every year, so nothing is guaranteed anymore.

What should we do as a result of being deferred?

If I were you, I would apply to at least one, maybe a few, other schools as a back up plan. Then I’d probably retake the ACT/SAT if you think you’d be able to bring up your scores. Then just wait and hopefully you’ll get positive news!
