Hello.
Last week i found out I was deferred to NC State University with a 3.7 GPA,1800 on the SAT, and numerous extra curricular activities. Also my dad is an alumni.
I just finished first semester of my senior year and received all A's.(Even in my two AP classes) Will this give me a good shot at being admitted? Also is there anything else I can do to increase my chances? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I’m actually surprised you didn’t just get in… All A’s never hurts lol keep up the grades, thats about as much as you can do. I’d be surprised if you didn’t end up getting in.

Thanks for the feedback!

Taken from the website: http://ncsu.parature.com/link/portal/30083/30117/Article/13/What-is-the-minimum-SAT-or-ACT-score-that-you-accept-for-admission

NC State Students who enrolled as part of our fall 2014 freshman class applied with the following average credentials:

Weighted/Unweighted GPA (4.0 scale): 4.41/3.66
Rank in Class: 13%
SAT Critical Reading and Math: 1248
SAT Critical Reading, Math and Writing: 1832
ACT Composite: 28

Your GPA is slightly above the average for last year (if the figure you provided is unweighted) and your SAT score is below last years average. What is your class rank? Is it 13% or better?

Your school will send a mid year report so they will be aware you are having a great year academically. You might also want to contact your admissions counselor and ask if there is any additional information or additional letters of recommendation that you can provide. My suggestion is to do this via personal phone call so they can hear your sincerity and enthusiasm If a phone call is not possible, I would encourage a personal visit–make an appointment with an admissions person before you arrive on campus. Ensure he/she knows NC State is your #1 choice.

Also, just found this on the website, so my advice above might not help:
Information for Fall 2015 freshman applicants whose decision was deferred until Final Review

The competition for a spot in this fall’s freshman class at NC State is more intense than ever. By the final application deadline we expect to have received over 21,000 applications for the 4,250 spaces available in the fall 2015 freshman class.

When we review applications we find some applicants with very strong credentials who can be admitted immediately, others who aren’t competitive enough for admission, and a large number that might benefit from the opportunity to provide improved fall grades and test scores whose decisions are deferred until Final Review in March. Applicants who are deferred will receive an invitation in February to enter their fall grades through their wolfPAW account.

How likely is it that I will be accepted during Final Review?

We can’t tell you how many applications will be accepted during Final Review this year or how likely it is that you will be accepted. It will depend on your academic credentials and the credentials of other applicants who submitted an application by the January 15th final application deadline. Last year we were able to offer admission to 33 percent of students whose decisions were deferred until Final Review.

What’s happens next?

We will send you an email message by mid-February with instructions for entering your senior year fall grades online via your wolfPAW account. Please do NOT send us an updated transcript. If you have additional SAT or ACT scores please contact the testing agency to request that they be sent to us electronically. Any additional test scores you would like to be considered in your decision for final review must arrive by March 1. If you send multiple sets of test scores we will consider your highest score for each section. You can view which scores have been received by our office on your wolfPAW application status screen.

When we review your application again during Final Review in March, we will focus on your academics (grades and test scores). If we are unable to accept you in your first choice major you will automatically be considered for your second choice. Applicants who receive an admission decision during Final Review can be accepted, denied, or placed on a waiting list in case additional space in the freshman class becomes available.

What can I do to improve my chances of being accepted?

The best thing that will help your application is to do well in your fall classes and provide that information through your wolfPAW account in February, after we contact you by email. You can also have improved official SAT or ACT Plus Writing scores sent to us by the testing agency. Please note that we do not offer interviews.

Can I find out sooner if I change my major?

No. If you request a different major you will still have to wait until March 30 to receive an admission decision.

Would it help if I sent recommendation letters?

Recommendation letters are not required and not recommended.

Is the application process more or less competitive depending on when I apply?

Our admission criteria are the same for all applications submitted and completed by the final January 15 deadline. There is no competitive disadvantage for applicants who apply early and have their admission decision deferred until Final Review.

If you have further questions about your application status, please contact Undergraduate Admissions by email at undergrad-admissions@ncsu.edu. Please send your message from the email address listed on your application and provide your complete name and date of birth in the message.

Best of luck.
