This is the official thread for Chicago EA deferees.

Two questions:

1) Can we expect a final decision much sooner than April 1st?
2) Anyone know the acceptance rate for deferees?

hey, I'm so glad I got deferred too...

I emailed my admissions officer--she replied with a prelude including these two lines: "I would like to reassure you that you are indeed a strong candidate, and it is good to know that Chicago remains your first choice. We do not defer students that we would not seriously consider for admission in the regular pool." (I indicated that Chicago is still my first choice)

I like the first statement, but the second makes me wary that it's merely standard boilerplate, seeing as how they only outright reject SERIOUSLY unqualified students for EA...what are your thoughts?

Well, now that we're deferred...

What do we do now?

we'll wait and see...
does anyone of you know how many EA applicants there were? and how many of them were re-accepted last year?

The admissions officer I emailed said that the admissions rate for deferees was slightly less than 30% last year.

When I visited a friend this year, I met a few people who had been deferred early and then who made their own viewbooks or got peer reviews and really demonstrated their love of the school. And they got in eventually! So go for it. Good luck!
