is there a good chance of be accepted after deferal? i am pretty upset, albany was my first choice school. im really unsure if i should take the SAT again, i didnt think my score was that bad and im not sure if i could do much better by testing again, i definitley don't want my score to go down.

I'm sorry! Keep up the grades; does your school grade on quarters? Maybe if the second quarter is good, they'll see that you're on a serious upward trend. Your grades hit me as more of an issue than the SAT. Good luck!

Deferred with an 1810? I think that the downfall was your average...

WHAT?!?!?! Deferred at UAlbany with an 1810?!?!

I'm sure you'll get in, trust me. My GPA was a little higher than yours (86), I took only 1 AP, and my SAT 1700 and I got in.

I'm also a retard.

From what I hear, New Paltz is getting more difficult to get into. My friend's daughter was going to apply there and was told by her guidance counselor that they are not accepting students with under an A average now.

I'm surprised about Albany though. Hopefully you will still get in.
Good luck!

Hi, i see on the status checker that we will not find out if we are accepted until the first week in january. Was your deferral posted already? It really looks like you will get in.Good luck.

i found out by checking my online status.
i was pretty upset about new paltz rejecting me because my friend got in with the same average as me (82) and a 1410 on the SAT and she did not even break 1000 math and cr combined. however she is a minority, so i guess thats maybe why she got in. do you guys think i should write them a letter expressing my deep interest in the school? i am also going to send them my first trimester grades. my overall avg unweighted was a 92 this trimester. i hope they see i am really trying to improve. this year i am taking honors english, pre-calc, government, economics, practical law, computer applications, and human biology

Definitely send in the grades! And a letter expressing your continued enthusiasm for the school! I hope you get in!

thanks for your answers and support everyone!

I would call the school! Talk with an admissions person and explain to them your upward trend and extreme interest in the school. I have a friend who called a college after her son was rejected and got him accepted. You have nothing to lose and only something to gain.
Good luck and let us know what happens! BTW, my S has applied to NP as a transfer. We prob won't hear until Jan/Feb according to the transfer admissions office.

thanks for the advice lilymoon, good luck to your son! i will keep you updated.

Thanks newyorkgirl. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :)
