I got deferred to reg consideration.
I have a 91.11 gpa and a 1300/1600
760 math 540 reading and I'm in state

do I still have a chance or will I most probably be rejected ?

What school did you apply to? Harpur? SOM?

I think it was probably because your CR score was too low...

I don't really know if you still have a chance or not, but I would have expected that someone like you would get in...

Did you find out from the status checker? I think you have a good chance of getting in. Don't lose hope!

I'm actually extremely nervous about whether I'll be accepted or not now...

I have a 1300 too, but a 680 in math and a 620 in CR...

Ugh...=(

i know a lot of students at bing. now with scores lower than yours. my goodness i cant believe the storeis of deferral -even rejection of entrance this year . that said do call write letters and make another campus visit. schools want students who want them..be sure to make it clear as possible to the adcom that this school is your number one..

Did you apply to SOM? What was your Writing score?

I applied to harpur with a biochem major
I was shocked myself

should I change to undecided

maybe it was the fact that you said your asian...or maybe it's because you used someone else's essay rather than making it your own.

blueskymom, i wanted to send in extra letters and such to admissions, but i heard that this annoys them, so i didn't. my stats are pretty good, so i'm not too concerned about them. i haven't heard yet about my EA decision. Should I send more stuff in? Give them a call or something?

don't send extra letters, only extra SATs reports and grades updated
They won't read your extra stuff.

I think its your critical reading. Binghamton usually accepts people with 600+ in all sections of SAT and at least 90 average. Also, it also depends on what you decide to major in. Perhaps the major you chose has very limited seats available?

when we were at info session, they said you could submit extra letters of recommendation, but not to get carried away with it. they did not specifically address the issue of whether you should/could do this if you got deferred in ea round. i think you have to ask yourself if there is anyone who you would ask for an extra letter who would really add something to your file that they don't already have.

i also agree the cr score is probably what got you deferred. but you shouldn't assume that means you won't get in later.

binghamton is receiving a ton of applications -- probably even more than last year. by deferring ea candidates that aren't a clear "yes" they give themselves a chance to see what the overall pool will be. it also gives them a chance to see your midyear grades -- be sure to send those to them and hopefully it'll help.

I would say email your regional Admissions counselor
Binghamton University Undergraduate Admissions

and express your enthusiasm and what you have been doing through the course of your senior year to insure your admission to Binghamton.
effort goes a long way, I should know =)

A friend got in with 1700 SAT (3 part) and low 90s average...

Wow. Well, there's a fair share of kids who apply to Ivies who use Big as their safety.

I know someone who was deferred last year. Then, in April, Bing offered him "spring admission." That meant that he couldn't attend the fall semester but had to start in January. Depending on what your options are, it might not be too bad.

Does Bing require mid-year grades if you were deferred from EA?

is that spring admission option available only for transfer students? I heard about it, but I don't know much about it...

No, the spring admission I have heard about is for freshmen.

ninazoo

i think it never hurts to send in more information you think might help your application profile. i doubt it would annoy a professional admissions department that a proud student is trying to suppliment their application. worst case is that they may not read them.

Good luck and i hope you get accepted.

haha blueskymom... ninazoo has already been accepted.
