Deferred!!!

Hello,

I just checked my Wolverine Access, and saw the "7th semester grades" thing, which I now assume means "deferred".

Now, my question is, what are my chances of getting accepted now? Do many kids who get deferred get accepted? Or should I expect "deferred" to become "waitlisted" and then rejected?

If I have strong senior fall grades, will this help me get a spot?

Hopefully, someone who was deferred and then accepted can reply and give me a little insight on this?

Thank you!

did you check WA everyday and just find out(december 17th) you got deferred?

where exactly did you see "7th semester grades"? because I got a letter from umich saying that i got deferred, but it doesn't say on my status nor did i get an email about it

I checked three days ago, and had no change in status. I checked today, and saw the new box under my received documents list. Are you perhaps waiting on a decision?

Voodoo_Santa - It's under your "credentials". Interesting, I never got a letter!

yes i am still waiting...so they might put that 7th semester grade up on monday or tuesday or today

yeah you see, i've looked through every link on wolverine access and nowhere does it say that :/ why do some people get that and others like me get a letter...*** is umich doing trying to making everything so confusing.

You could call their admissions office. That should clear it up.

If, in fact, you are deferred, definitely keep your options open. Instead of rejecting people outright, Umich tends to string people along, leading them on for quite some time.

Here's a random motivational story:

The brother of a person I know started out at Washtenaw Community College, worked his ass off, transferred to UM, worked his ass off, then transferred (or went, for grad school... I forget) to Harvard. Cool, huh? He saved a lot of money that way too. But it's a little risky...

Josh333 - So that means they will probably reject me later on? When will I receive another decision? Will it come soon, or around regular decision deadlines, like April?

No, no, it doesn't mean they will reject you. It just means that if they want to reject you, they generally won't tell you until very, very late (they didn't tell one of my friends until late May). I know a few people who were accepted after being deferred. Nevertheless, it's best to keep your options open just in case.

You should call them periodically and check up on the status of your application. If they want to see your 1st semester grades, you'll probably have to wait until a few weeks after you send your grades for a decision...
