Come on Moricarak is it really necessary to make his day worse? He already got a deferral today. Let’s be nice to people.

Yeah that wasn’t necessary, plus the 34 in math DOES matter when you apply to Engineering.

i applied to LSA

sdboot

was your gpa W or UW?

Coolbreeze…why won’t you go away (don’t listen to him…make sure you call UMich and see exactly what you need to do).

^
Wow what are you talking about? Motion12345 for some reason your being ( or are) ignorant. Your post are pointless aiming directly at me. Geez…

Lets just try to help these kids get in.

Honestly, UMich focuses a lot on GPA/Test scores. I know the median is somewhere around 28-32 ACT (it has definitely gone up this year) and 60% have a 3.8+ or something. Since you guyses stats aren’t in par with that, there is honestly not much you can do about it besides do some good extra curricular stuff and get good 7th semester grades, which will be the main focus.

For smaller schools, keeping in touch with the adcoms may help, but with like 20,000+ applicants, they’re not going to be able to keep track of you. =/

Best of luck guys. Work hard. And remember, there’s always grad school =)

I could never attend a graduate school that I was not admitted for undergraduate… thats repulsive. ( I now question some of my undergraduate schools I’m applying to, such as BU, NYU, GWU etc… knowing if rejected I wouldn’t even want to apply nor attend their graduate schools which is likely elite for my studies. Oh well I do know I will at least be still applying to the majority of the undergraduates I have intend.)

I recently commented on a cc post and makes me question the advantages and disadvantages of applying ER… mainly for those deferred. The cc user is afraid of not getting accepted into any universities due to their likely 7th semester grades, if this student was deferred from any school their admittance will ultimately come down to their 7th semester grades… and with the students expectations they will likely ultimately be rejected. Though if the student never even applied as ER the school would not factor their 7th semester grades into considering their admittance and would not have the negative effect of their poor grades to being rejected, accepted, or even waitlist.

123abc456^ my GPA is unweighted at 3.6 my school doesn’t weight GPA’s

Moricarak “”“”" 3 mistakes. Lots of people get 34+ on math, what matters is the composite. And also being a member in insane numbers of clubs won’t make your application look good at all. And introduced a full new course to an entire school district? Wow you’re greater than Obama.“”"

False, with engineering they specifically focus on the math and science sub scores, unless you believe I should value your condescending opinion over the AO’s I asked at Tech day, a North Campus tour, and a Central Campus tour. To sum it up for you, a 31 composite with a 26 sub score in math would be mediocre compared mine (says AO).

Sorry you got me about the club thing, I did not elaborate because some details aren’t necessary. It should have read
ECs:
-NHS Secretary, (200 member organization)
-Senior class rep
-Chess club President
Health Career Investigations club, Vice president and co creator of an organization that allows high school students to tour 9 departments at the local Detroit hospitals
-then presented the groups progress at a district wide televised board meeting to spur its addition to our schools curriculum. THE FIRST IN THE STATE to do this, now there are multiple after the course I initiated took off so well
-Appointed to the district science curriculum planning committee, only studentto get this honor
-varsity sailing team captain, ranked 3rd in the Midwest
-member of political club
-Vice president of a nationally recognized Chemistry Outreach Program for underexposed elementary and middle schools.
-significant asset and medal winner a of Science Olympiad team that has gone to state finals for the past 3 years.

Moricarak my purpose of posting on this forum is to offer others knowledge that I have acquired, in return for what they have taught me. I am not bitter or upset that I was deferred as it is only a challenge to succeed more. Good luck with your future decisions, though I might add it helps to keep your karma up, for all you know I’m your AO pretending to be a kid (I’m not don’t get parinoid).

Guys guys lets just all be friends here!!!
