Deferring Admission For A Year?

I'm considering doing this (I'm applying to college this autumn), but I'm not entirely sure whether or not I want to do. My reasons for doing so would be (1) especially due to the fact I'm homeschooled, I want to gain more real-world experience, stuff outside of academics and my usual ECs and (2) the fact I'm a few years younger than the average college applicant.

If I want to defer admission, do I have to make my mind up now? Or, if I'm accepted next year, can I hold off deciding till then?

Also, how would this affect the whole process of applying for financial aid? (I'm international, btw).

Finally, I suppose one can't defer admission for more than one year?

Thanks!

You should apply and once accepted, inform the school quickly. I dunno how it would affect FA.

^Will every college allow students to defer after their admission (without informing the college beforehand)?

Well I can’t speak for every college but once a college makes you an offer, they are committed to you. However, they can’t compel you to attend and would rather have you come a year later than lose out on you.

Not every college will allow you to defer. Some may make you reapply with the new class.
