Deferring admission for one semester

I have already got into a state school for fall 2014 and it allows to defer the admission by maximum of 1 semester. So I defer it till max Spring 2015

My question is Can you opt out and cancel your admission even after deferring your admission??

I want to apply to some schools for Spring 2015 admission

they can’t compel you to attend. People change their mind all the time, often over the summer when accepted off a waitlist somewhere else. You tell school A you aren’t coming and lose your deposit. The caveat is that when you deferred your enrollment you may have promised not to apply anywhere else. If so, and if they find out (for example you don’t like the branch of State you got into and apply again to the system) it is likely they will revoke your admission. And even if you want to “forget” that you have an admission on the table, you will need to have your old HS send transcripts and they may either refuse to do so or notify the school where you were accepted.

On the other hand if what you are saying is you want to completely cancel your acceptance to school A and then apply elsewhere for spring admission, you can do that; you’ll just lose your deposit.

The Spring admissions are due in September. So can I apply to Spring applications and still be using my defer admission?

or is it necessary to cancel my admission first before I apply anywhere else?
