If we're accepted to Berkeley for Fall 2010, would it be possible to defer our admission by one semester? I'm hoping to get in for Spring 2011.

nope u take it or leave it

see here:

you can differ up to a year easily by writing a letter to the dean, i met a guy in my calculus class who got accepted to Berkeley 10 years ago, and he said, “if you get accepted to Berkeley but cannot afford it, they give you 10 years to come back,” &he was a smart and sincere guy,;

@karnus, can you show me where in your link it says you can take it or leave it pls?

I know two people who differed admissions. I’m not sure how they did it, but they differed until the next fall. Not sure if they had to do it that way, or if they could do what you are thinking of.

@lukem

Karen is a ■■■■■. Ignore.

I’m pretty sure you can appeal for that, but like others appealing, it’s very difficult and slim to none chances but you do have that option!

I was wondering the same thing.

I have heard that you can enroll and then withdraw, thus not hurting your enrollment for the next semester. I’d ask the registrar’s office for complete and reliable details.

@CaliTrumpet,

i’ve heard that word, ‘■■■■■’ but never understood what it meant, can you pplease elaborate ? & thanks

oh i see, thank you Sopheee :)

Thanks for the replies, guys. I’ll call the registrar’s office to ask if I’m accepted. :)

you can defer up to a year. The only thing is, you may not take classes at any college during your deferment.

if I may ask, why spring '11? and wouldn’t that be two semesters (fall&winter)?

If you check the Berkeley admission site, and search “defer” you will see:

Students cannot defer enrollment. For more information, contact the Registrars Office at 510-642-5990.

You can write an appeal requesting deferment, but know that it’s rarely granted.
