<p>It’s probably lower because if they don’t want you the first go around, why would they want you four months later?</p>
<p>I heard there are 2 kinds of deferrals (not just for Cornell):</p>
<p>1) Borderline deferral: "We think you’d be a good applicant, however, we have too see the RD pool to compare you to them.</p>
<p>2) Friendly rejection deferral: “You’re a good applicant, but just not good enough for us. Straight out rejection during ED round is too harsh”</p>
