Deffered From Maryland, Help!!!

<p>I applied early to University of Maryland College Park and I was waitlisted, deffered (not sure). All I know is that I won't get a decision until April 1st after they see my 1st semester Senior grades.</p>

<p>Up to 11th Grade:
GPA: 2.89 UW 3.2 W
<strong>All Honors courses save for a semester of regular Chem</strong>
SAT:1280
690 Math 590 English</p>

<p>Up to 1st Semester Senior:
GPA: 3.0 UW 3.35 W</p>

<p>Classes:
AP Environmental Sci B
AP STAT B
AP Computer Programming B
Honors English A
Weight Training A
Engineering A
Double period Internship at a Computer Consulting Firm A
*** Yes I know I have a weird schedule.</p>

<p>ECs:
Volleyball (Varsity) 10th, 11th
Vice President Computer Club
Chinese Club
Fencing Club
Computer Administration Intern 10th, 11th
Paid Internship at an impressive Buisness Applications company
Did alot of film+ community work for Khmer Temple
Helped run a film production/editing buisness in 2003
I am Khmer (not a common asian, not sure if that helps)</p>

First Generation</p>

<p>Please tell me what my chances are. I wanna break my parent's hearts now instead of through the letter from hell.</p>

<p>In the same boat.....luckly grades got better in senior year, including honor roll. I think it is a deferral not a waitlist. I guess worse case from here is a waitlist or Spring admission. Hope they make these decisions before 4/1 and not just place it in the queue with the regular admissions now being reviewed.</p>

<p>I don't know what to tell you... I got in with honors and my SAT was lower than yours BUT my gpa was quite a bit higher. I think you've got a good shot and I wish you the best of luck!</p>

<p>It was most likely your GPA. We have around the same stats, but weighted my GPA is over 4.3. And I really don't think the sister or first generation or Khmer would count for anything...</p>

<p>Maybe send in your midyear report if you've improved? </p>
