Hello,
MSU requested 7th semester grades from me, and according to my application status online they have received them. My question is this: Should I call them? I have heard tha it might be a good idea to call them, telling them why I would be a good choice for them and how would work my butt off as a Spartan. Should I make this call or not? Any help would be appreciated!!

It wouldn’t hurt to let them know you are interested. State will open spots for deferred students in May after the deadline passes. I know of some students who found out in August they were admitted. Also they sometimes admit for January.

Thanks res ipsa. What happens if I get admitted for January. If that is the case should I
a) do the first semester at a community college so im on my pace with fellow msu students.
b) first semester at a regular college
c) Simply take the fall off, save up some $, and attend MSU in january.
I’m new to this stuff so thank you for helping me!!

Seems like it would bebest to take fall off due to school admitting you as is for Jan.

I wouldn’t think too much about unless it happens. The ones I know ultimately got in for fall but were planning to take classes at OCC or OU for the fall. It is a good way to get some pre-reqs out of the way.

i had the same thing. originally, the status said letters would be sent out in april, but then it changed to “we’re still in the process of reviewing your application”. weird, huh? rumor has it that most deferred students will hear in april. however, my brother was in the same situation and got his letter in april that said he was accepted for spring, but had to wait to hear about fall. he didn’t find out he got accepted until june. keep me posted, i’m in the same boat?:)

It seems like a lot of my deferred friends have been getting letters lately (some good, some not-so-good). Perhaps that is a good sign? Best of luck to you both :)

will msu wait list ever? i’m also deffered…

^ I’m not quite sure what you’re asking.

I believe that everyone who is wait-listed will ultimately get a decision, but it might be late and/or for Spring 11.

I just received a letter offering me guaranteed admision for Spring 2011, and that I will still be considered for Fall 2010, a decision that will be given to me in Late May. So I guess this was good news but not the FULL good news I’m hoping to eventually get. So, some questions I have about this are
- Is there a way I can maintain my guaranteed Spring admission WHILE STILL keeping myself in the mix to be chosen for the fall?
- If in the undesirable case that I do not recieve fall admission, what should my course of action be? Get courses out of the way at OU or OCC so that I’m on pace with other MSU classmates? If so, should it be OU or OCC??
Thanks Everybody!! :)

You are still in the mix for the fall. You are guaranteed Spring admission at the worst. You don’t have to choose.

Stay flexible with your plans. A friend of ours found out in August that she was admitted for September. I would look into both OC and OCC. See which schools have courses that transfer best to MSU and which is easiest to get out of if MSU gives you late notice. Another alternative would be LCC if you want to move to the Lansing area.
