Deffered. Little help?

So the axe finnally fell today- I got deffered, in a way I'm glad to get it over with.

Now what? I will have very good grades first semester: all As weighted, maybe 4 As and 1 or 2 Bs unweighted. If they see that will I be admitted in January? in April? I also sent my quarter grades but I assume they don't look at them/ it didn't help. Should I write to them? Should I send them an artistic supplement that I'm sending to other schools (I'm not an art major)?

In case you were wondering-
OOS legacy
1490
pretty good curriculum and good AP grades
3.1 mich avg at very good HS
good ecs/ essays/ recs

thanks for the help

did u see the FAQ with the deferred letter, it answers all those questions, it says they will just look at ur semester grades and u could know anywhere from january to mid april at the latest, i would assume that u are going to get in, a 1490 is way above Michigan's sat average, im really surprised u got deferred. I got deferred to and yea im pretty relieved too, in a wierd way.

goblue1247- i feel you on that stuff. i'm a little surprised, but not really- before my senior year I only had 2 As unweighted. i did see the faq, it helped some. i hope everything worls out for you.

i just wanted to know if there was anything else i could do...

I'm also surprised ( and nervous ) that you were deferred. I really thought with your early app, hard curriculum, APs and your great testing that you'd be in, despite the lower Michigan GPA. I also think(hope) you'll eventually get in. Don't give up - definitely write a letter stating your continued interest and desire to attend if you get in. I'd also send any current grades, new awards etc. and sure the art supplement too. None of it will hurt, that's for sure!

myccname, do not panic. You are doing well this year and that's what Michigan wants to see. Call the admissions office and ask them that they need and see to it they get, but I suspect that if you maintain your current grades (3.7+ unweighed GPA), your stand a good chance of getting in come early Spring.

thanks all...

is it possible that they could see my 1st term grades and send me a letter right away in january or im i done till march?

best of luck to everyone else- 10000 people have to get in so some of us will...

is the school very selective to get into? because you have great stats

everything of mine seemed pretty good except that whole 3.1 gpa thing...

Hmmm, I didn't get any "FAQ" letter with my deferral. Is that because I go the HS that Michigan gets the most applicants from and they assume I know of the deferral process, or because they are just waiting to reject me later?

I personally received a small letter, no FAQ, nothing telling me I was deferred, just telling me they are waiting to make a final decision based on first semester grades... My friend got a deferral that out right told him he was deferred and came with an attached FAQ... we're from a suburban Detroit HS btw

Yeah, they just sent me a letter saying that my decision was going to be delayed until March-April.

They speciffically said deffered in mine. As for when a descision would be made all they said was between now and April and that I should send in my first semester grades.

Are these to different letters similar/ the same or what?

I got one that said an admissions decision would be "delayed", the word deferred was never in it. They never actually gave me a decision, rather just said my decision would be delayed. I was being told I was a "delayed candidate", different from deferred.

sounds right, but how are they different? is one better so to speak?
