Deffered Students

I applied back at the beginning of October and got deffered in December with the letter that didnt ask for 7th semester grades. Im in state with a 3.925 and a 30 on my ACT. I was wondering how late Umich still accepted deffered students last year and if it would be too late to keep considering Umich. I got a full ride to 3 other schools but id much rather go here. What do you guys think?

I've been wondering the exact same thing

i heard the final decision will be made in mid-april

psp, have you gotten your decision yet? Were any deffered students admitted in mid-april last year?

crap... i'm in the same situation like you and dying to hear back from them!!! Hope this will be the last week for them to send us the decisions, whether it's acceptance or not!

Hey guys when i try to login on wolverineaccess it doesn't let me use my email address anymore, I have to use the kerebos username. Is that the same with everybody?

michiganstate- yea i got the same problem, i cant login like i used to anymore...its asking for that kerebos thing

and yea im dying to hear from them as well....but unfortunately they make all their regular applicant decisions before they even get back to looking at the deferred applicants. we'll hear mid/late april

uofm33: are you sure? cuz then that'll suck because we have to reply to most colleges by May 1, and I want more than just a few weeks in advance to decide where I want to go and visit the schools. When did deferred people hear back last year?

Has anyone been denied after being deferred yet?

i havent gotten mine decision yet, still waiting.

do all of defferal students' WA show nothing about financial aid status? cuz mine said they havent receive anything yet

I ask because it can't be a good sign if no one has received denials the that would increase the likelihood of getting denied remarkably.

voodoosanta- on our deferral letter it says that all final decisions will be made no later than mid-april. so we just gotta wait 3 weeks...

and ive only heard of a few deferral students getting in, but they were the ones who sent in their 7th semester grades(which were pretty good). some COE students got in as well w/o sending any grades.

and although they havent denied anyone (as far as i know), i think only ones from the absolute bottom get rejected, and a bunch are waitlisted.

here are some numbers on waitlists from just a couple years ago...

•Number waitlisted: 8,385
•Number who accepted a place on waitlist: 2,776
•Number admitted from waitlist: 525
•Percentage admitted from waitlist: 19%

Those are 2006 figures, aren't they? As far as I know, none were admitted from the waitlist in 2007.

these are the 2007 figures:
Number waitlisted: 5662
Number who accepted a place on waitlist: 2067
Number admitted from waitlist: 0
Percentage admitted from waitlist: 0%

Well then I meant has anyone been wait-listed as of yet?

o wow...no one was accepted from 2007??

why would they go from accepted hundreds of kids and then accept 0 the next year?

does anyone have 2008 numbers? do you guys think they'll accept some this year?

How are the deferred student re-evaluated? Do they just look at the mid-year reports or do they read the whole application over again?

uofm,
They only have a certain number of spots open to the freshmen class. If an overwhelming number of students who are admitted decide to attend, then no one from the wait list can be accepted because there is no room in the freshmen class.

Also, some people on this thread who were originally deferred have been admitted already. I think it's only those students who were asked for their second semester grades and had REALLY good grades.

I hate the waiting game :(

My question is.... Has anyone received bad news yet who was deferred?

i think they will release all the rejections/waitlists at the very end (mid-april).
and i think those who were asked for 7th semester grades have a better deferal letter
