I'm a male oos from new jersey with great GPA (4.6), great class rank (3/416), many focused ec's
I got deferred but no one but me and another girl got deferred everyone else got rejected. Im pretty excited seeing as that im one of two to even still have a chance.

my midyears are:
AP Calc AB = A+
AP Bio = A
English 4 Honors = A
Economics = A
Business and tech = A+
Food Science and Nutrition = A+
Phys. Ed (health) = A

If anyone can give me a roundabout of my chances of getting accepted, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks All!

rejected.... deffered chances are close to 7% in the past year, this year it will probably be lower.. or close to it. BUT your academic record is good but not great because your choice is too easy i think- I'm in-state applied regular i have 10 AP classes, 10 Hn classes... but i'm not sure how many ap classes your school offers, but your sat/act plays a huge factor also.

The following is based on information that a UNCCH admissions person said at my NC school's junior night. One SAT will never make or break you at UNC. They look at it and know their limitations on how well they depict how good a student is but it won't make or break you. The most important thing is the transcript which looks good for you. However he also said that this year OOS students have a huggggeee disadvantage. They are taking around the same maybe take a little but overall the actual pool is more competitive then ever for OOS. Also keep in mind that because of the economic recession, more students than ever are applying in state so there is a good chance that they are going to take more then usual if anything.

you got defered?! wow thats so suprising considernig your stats. I got acceted and i only have a 3.4/4 and a 1980 on my SATs, a 30 on my ACT, and Im only in the top 30-35% of my class. Im also out of state. so I really am shocked that you didnt get it.

I think you haev a very good chance of getting in once yuo hear your final decision though :)

Chapel Hill is probably the toughest state school in the country to get into from out of state. The senior year grades may be very good, and an A+ in Calculus is certainly impressive, but for a school of UNC's caliber you've taken a very light senior year schedule. No foreign language, no AP English, and several fluff courses.

I have a few friends who have 3.3 UWs or less and were accepted. I guess being from NC is a lot more valuable for UNC than I had imagined. Sorry man.

The percentage of those deferred that get in is very low, but keep the hope!

no i didnt really have any good hooks either. no alumni relation, no stellar leadership roles, i was an exchange student with AFS for my junior year but thats really it

I don't understand UNC-CH admissions. I used to like UNC-CH but I think the fact that it's so difficult to get in out-of-state has made me like the school less—if someone with nowhere near my stats can get in in-state, that's great. I didn't get in with a 2280 SAT...so UNC is DEFINITELY not a place where I want to be.
