Deffered?

I was just defered from Villanova. I looked in a book and it said 39% of those people get in so is this just a way of making a slow painful admissions death for me or do I still have a shot?

If you don't do anything you probably won't get in. Write an earnest letter talking about your weaknesses on your app and why you want to go there. Take an SAT subject test, visit, get an interview, get some more recs. There is plenty to do, just don't do NOTHING! GL!

i Just got deffered also, what were your credentials?

Friend's son was deferred last year. His H.S. GC called TPTB at V and made a strong case for him. That seemed to tip the scale and he was admitted.

My SAT'S were probably a little low. They were 590 Math and 560 Critical Reading... (580 Fake Verbal Section).

Everything else is pretty good. I go to extremely competitive Jesuit High School in New York City. 89 average there. Eagle Scout in B.S.A.-have been in scouts since I was six years old. French Club(2-4) Vice President and Treasurer. J.R.O.T.C (1-4) PLatoon Leader and 1st Lieutenant. Irish Society (4), Robotics class(4), Polish Society(3). Community service includes work at soup kitchen in sophmore to junior year and 72 hours at Bernard Fineson Center for Mentally Challenged and also work with the Boy Scouts in the community. Awsome recomendations and a very good essay.

That's the main part of my app.

Bump...
Should I stress anything to them maybe like the Eagle Scout business? Already did an interview at Villanova with the Dean of Mechanical Engineering.

sorry to hear Xavier...but like everyone says - if you get deferred don't sit there and give up. Send a letter to the dean saying how Villanova is still your top choice (if it truly is) along with another essay that illustrates your genuine desire to go there. Yes your SAT scores are low, but if you can't retake them, then just do whatever you can to show that you really want to go there. GL
