oh well

does anyone know the acceptance rate for defferals?

sry to hear that out of curiosity did u have the extra tabs in agora

i also got deferred… did not have the tabs.

I heard it was around 20%, but I’m not too sure how reliable the source (a friend) was. Did you say that you lived in Western New York? Because I do, and I didn’t receive a letter yet!

The website says about 20% of deferrals are eventually accepted. I wish you luck!!!

@ elizabeths

where are you located?

It is unfortunate to see so many qualified applicants get deferred/wait-listed/rejected, but this happens every year. All I can do is hope that all the deferred students such as yourself get accepted into BC during RD. Keep in mind that most students end up happy at their college even if it isn’t a top choice. We’ll wait until April and see. :)

@iwannagotoBC I’m in a suburb right outside of Buffalo.

Best of luck with BC! You have a fantastic ACT, especially, and your other stats look good as well.

OP:

You have a great test scores, but lower gpa/rank; if I recall, 80% of BC’s matriculants are in the top 10%. Take some time to rewind over the holidays. Then track down the name of your local rep and send him/her a letter than explains ‘Why BC’. Remember to show, not tell.

Good luck.

I have a feeling that I’m getting deferred too…ugh this sucks.

also, get those RD apps out the door.

Deferred. :/

Does anyone know what I can send them to help my application? Is there an optional essay? Will they accept additional teacher recommendations?

I was deferred as well. Does BC reject any applicants in the EA round, or just accept/defer?

BC does reject EA applicants. It is usually about 40% accept, 40% defer, and 20% reject.

SAT: 2230/1500 CR-800 M-700 W-730

Essay: Not sure thought it was pretty good
Recs: Unknown
Other: Took a college course at Yale in Fall Semester and got an A, so I will be sending those transcripts to BC

Kinda stinks, but I’m hopeful. Does anyone know the numbers for how many they defer/reject and what my chances are in RD?

I was also deferred:
SAT: 2070 (750 CR, 630 M, 690 W)
GPA: not really sure, probably somewhere around a 5.0 weighted
3 years varsity XC
Study Abroad for college credit

this sucks but atleast there is still a glimmer of hope

Does anyone know about what percentage of deferred applicants are accepted RD at BC?

My “S” also got deferred to RD.

To “help” your chances for RD - Johns hopkins AO recommended the following for deferred students:

If newer/better SAT/ACT/SAT II’s - forward them ASAP.

Ace your Mid-term exams and hope to get the best mid-year grades. This is a huge factor for defferals to RD. This will be reflected in your transcript. Also, have your Guidance Counselor update his/her statement with anything imporved or new.

Another letter of rec - only if it will add something new and positive.

The AO did not recommend contacting the admssions office or trying to setup a personal appointment or interview.

search this website with “deferrals” for more suggestions.
