I have a what if situation as I have not applied yet and have not gotten in yet, but I am going to graduate high school one year early and I will only be 17. I am going to apply to Harvard university but don’t know if I want to necessarily go right out of high school since I live in California and that is on the other side of the U.S., so I was wondering if I could defer for a year and go to another university in California for that year and then transfer in the next year. If anyone could give me advice or anything that would be great! Thank you!
If you are admitted to Harvard and choose to defer, you may not enroll in another college in that year (unless you give up your place at Harvard). The same would be true at most American colleges. If you do not feel ready to go to college away from home you would be better off applying to places in California.
It would be a GAP year and you would need to be approved for a gap yar program. The odds on Harvard are quite long, have a series of solid alternatives.
Be careful with your spelling on your application.
