Defferred twice, please chance!

Hey guys, I got defferred from Pomona and Umich, and now I'm starting to worry. Please help me out. My stats are:

-GPA- UW-3.5
W-4.1
-Class Rank- 80 of 460
-SAT- 780(M)+730(R)+680(W)=2190
-I have taken all honors academic courses I could throughout high school and as a senior
am enrolled in:
1) Calculus 3/Differential Equations Honors
2) Physics Honors
3)Statistics AP
4) English 4 AP
5) Government AP
-I have gotten three 5's on the AP tests that I have taken so far which were:
US History, Chemistry and Calculus.
- My activities were:
1)Camp Swift Organization- Board Member/Counselor for camp for innercity children.
2)Asian American Society- Vice President
3)Science Club- Vice President
4)Rock On Club- Treasurer
5)Calculus Club- Parliamentarian
6)Crew- Rowing (Club sport) (Only started this year though)
- I didn't enter a race on my applications for Umich and Pomona, since I was multiracial but I was told I should since I am part Hispanic. So I only put down my mix for two schools (Carnegie Mellon and NYU)

The colleges that I want to be chanced on are:

1) Northwestern
2) Carnegie Mellon
3) New York University

Thanks so much, happy holidays everyone!

Northwestern--Reach
Carnegie Mellon--Match to Slight Reach (closer to Slight Reach, but your SATs may get you in)
NYU--Match if CAS, Slight Reach for Stern

I certainly hope you have applied to more schools than just these (and Pomona and Michigan). With your rank being just barely in the top 20%, applying only to schools that almost demand top 10% or better for everyone (and even top 5%) is not a great strategy on your part. Yes, your great SAT scores help, but remember that the single most important thing in any college application is your grades (GPA). Schools like Penn State and Maryland and Georgia would be good matches/safe matches/safeties, respectively--but I don't know their deadline dates.

Good luck.

Northwestern will probably be difficult to get into - but hey, that's true for most people. I think you should be set for Carnegie Mellon, honestly. NYU - well your scores put you pretty much in there, especially for CAS. Your scores and transcript and ECs are all good, but the rank thing is what's killing you. Basically it shows that you're a smart person, but maybe not the best - which isn't what most super selective schools like to see. You know where I would look into? Boston University. Great city surrounded by a ton of other great schools (you can cross register if it doesn't offer courses you want to take, so you know you could still wind up with a couple of Harvard credits). They have a bajillion scholarships - some that you don't even have to separately apply for! I don't know...my guess is that you probably will get in somewhere, but your strategy isn't the best.

Chance back please!

Might llok at Holy Cross-very good LAC-near Boston.

Thanks guys={D I also forgot to mention I have a job as well, and the editor of a school literary magazine if that helps anything. I've applied to 11 schools and have gotten into Arizona State and University of Arizona so far. I'm just worried since my brother got into Northwestern with slightly worse grades, same SATs, worse EC's and one 4 on AP Calc, but he was a National Merit Finalist so I kinda don't want to dissapoint.

Very Small Chance at Northwestern. Very High Reach. Carnegie Mellon is a Low Match. NYU is a Reach. There are many other good schools out there. Dont give up.

Oh and I'm jewish so Holy Cross is kinda out.X{D

Believe it or not there are a few Jewish students and professors at Holy Cross. Here is an article on one who became a rabbi:
Rabbi Cohen ’72 to Visit Campus, Shares Sermons From ‘Days of Awe’ | College of the Holy Cross

Lol that is kinda interesting. I like how there's 4x as many jewish professors as students. I'd be fine with it, but my parents would not be pleased. Any more takers to chance me?

Northwestern- Reach
CMU- Low Match
NYU- Match unless it's Stern, then slight reach

Please chance me! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/621725-took-risk-blew-any-hope-left.html

Wow your stats are really similar to mine. It's freaky. I say you have an above average shot at all. You're pretty safe. Chance me too.

Thanks for the help guys, I feel a wee bit less worried now={D

hey stellar
i think ur pretty good for carnegie mellon and NYU
the only thing that really hampers your chances are your rank and GPA, which u really can't do anything about now
BUT, as a fellow applicant of Northwestern, i hope to see you there (if i get in :) )
