I hear the term best-fit college. I asked the parents about it and did not get a satisfactory answer. I chose my school based on best fin aid. I am eager to know how the kids define what is a best-fit college? When you choose school how do you know what college is best fit?

I think that you are the parent? Best fit begins when you choose which colleges to appy to....don't apply to any college you don't think you would be willing to matriculate to. Do you want a large school, small school, liberal arts v research university. Are you wanting close proximity to home? Do you have a special program you are interested in? Are you a sports fan? I am a sports fan but I don't want to play varsity sports at my college. I do however enjoy going to baseball games in the city where my school is and taking a train for little money and short time to other cities close to where I am in school. I did not want a college in a rural or remote setting. I like a relatively large school. I am interested in having graduate courses available so a college granting undergrad degrees only was not a fit for my preferences. It could be as simple as climate.....a kid wants warm weather as opposed to Dartmouth which is a preference for a kid who loves snow skiing or has always wanted to participate in snow skiing. Ease of travel.....quick to big airport many direct flight....vs. bus to airport, few direct flights. These are part of "fit".
