I have often heard this or that school is a party school. Are there any objective ways of supporting these statements other than hearsay? How does one compare different schools "party factor"?

imo, a party school is a school where drinking/partying take priority over all else. Of course, this is a general statement whereas there will also be a minority of kids that don't choose this path. Usually, but not limited to, these party schools tend to have campuses which are rather isolated which leaves drinking to be their major source of entertainment. Party schools often don't differentiate between a weekday and a weekend which makes dorm life rather hectic and loud. Partying/socializing/drinking are all part of the college experience but party schools tend to allow it to be a major part of campus life. When the kids can drink/party most nights and still maintain a gpa good enough to stay in school, you've got yourself a party school.
