Degree completion and scholarships?

Hi,

I'm a double major and a minor, and one of my majors has very sequential courses so that it pretty much takes four years to complete [though maybe you could do it in three if you knew what you wanted from day 0 but that is not the norm, and I can't think of anyone in our department who has ever done it]. The other major is far less sequential and thus I may technically finish it by the end of this ("junior" year). I'm on a four-year renewable scholarship, and completing both degrees and the minor is important to me. While I know this may be school-specific--and I'll ask--is financial/merit aid generally stopped once a degree is completed and graduation requirements are met, regardless of the year?

Thanks,
q

You can always happen to not finish completing your degree if you want another year. Have one more important class to finish and then take some electives/minor requirements. In any case, I’m sure each school and each scholarship has different rules so ask your FA office what their policy is.

This is a definitely a you need to go get the answer straight from the horses mouth. If there is a an expectation that you finish in 4 years and most students do finish in 4 years , you probably will not get 5th year funding .

I know where my D went to school (no merit $$ only need based FA) with the exception of engineering majors( who were in a 5 year program) most of the need based FA stopped after being in attendance for 4 years.

Another thing to consider, my DD did a double major, she finished one before the other, if she had officially graduated in that degree she no longer would have been eligible for undergrad finaid or merit $, she could finish the classes, but not submit to the dept for graduation
