Which is the major which is most suitable for both MEdical and Pharmacy SChool?
Chemistry
Psychology
or
something else

Any major that you enjoy is appropriate for Med school. They do require that you take specific prerequisite classes:

1 year calc
1 year inorganic chemistry with lab.
Organic chemistry with lab
1 year biology
1 year physics with lab

Any of the majors you listed would work as long as you make sure to take the above mentioned classes as an elective if necessary.

Different med schools have slight variations in their required courses, so you should check those out. Your school’s pre-med advisor can also help you structure your courses. My D is doing pre-med and a theatre major.

D1 was a physics and math double major–she’s now a first year med student. D2 is a math and neuroscience double major and will apply to med school next summer. D2’s best friend is an Italian major and applying to med school this cycle.

In D1’s med school class, her cohort has majors ranging from music performance to English lit to Spanish to anthropology to Asian studies to electrical engineering to biochem to philosophy to…

IOW, you can major in just about anything so long as you fulfill your pre-reqs. (True for pharm school too.)

Major in something you enjoy because if you enjoy your classes, you tend to do better in them. For professional school, a strong GPA is vital.

BTW, right now it is especially important to stay in touch with your health professions advisor. The MCAT will expand and cover new topics starting Jan 2015. Med schools are already changing their entry requirements to match the new MCAT.

Thanks for all of the responses
But, the major which i want to major in has to affliliation with Pharmacy or Medical School
And im worried if i major in it i wont be able to finish all my pre courses

Summer school–but not for your med/pharm core science classes–if you need to take additional classes to complete your major + pre-reqs. Or you can overload for a semester or three if you need to.

Yes, yes i know but which degree would suit me better a
Chemistry degree with a minor in business administration or
A Political Science degree with a minor in business administration or
something else

I don’t think there are many of us here who are familiar with the requirements for pharmacy school. You may need to go beyond CC to research this subject.

Im not asking for the requirements i know all the requirement for pharmacy and medical school
Im just asking which shall i major in

You major in whatever interests you the most that allows you timely complete both your major requirements and medical school pre-reqs for the schools to which you wish to apply.

Well honestly whatever I want to major in is not offered at UCR
So i need to transfer to another university or college

Don’t major in business–med/pharm schools consider it a “vocational” major and it will hurt your admission chances. Professional schools expect you to have an “academic” major.

But poli-sci or chemistry are equally acceptable to med/pharm schools.

Major in whatever you want.

No im gonna minor in business
Im thinking of tranferring to either UCSB or UCI
After my sophomore year, since they both have a pharmacy related major

Pharmacy and Med schools get thousands of applicants with Bio-related majors. Those with a different major stand out more. You do not have to major in pharmacology to apply to Pharmacy school. You might be better off staying at UCR. Because for all the pharm/med pre-reqs UCI and UCSB are both (especially UCI) extremely competitive. The most important thing on your application will be your GPA.

Ya i know but its a really good start to learn the basics of pharmacy and all that!
If i dont like UCR which i believe im not im gonna come to a community college and then try to transfer to UCI or UCSB

I’d suggest music or art history as the best majors. You’ll need a release from your working life.

The trouble with transferring after your sophomore is that it gives you only 1 year to develop personal contacts/professional relationships with your professors in order to get those all important letters of recommendation before it’s time to apply to pharm school. D2’s friends at UCs say the pre-professional classes are huge and it’s hard to get to know the profs.

You want a LOR that’s speaks well of you and is not a generic “stevems was students in my XX class. His performance in this was acceptable and his final grade was Z…”

GPA and PCAT will only get your application considered; it’s the other stuff, especially LORs that your application noticed and gets you invited to interview.

Yes,i know that as well but, the thing is with a degree in either a pharmaceutical sales or pharmacology I could still be able to work in the field of pharmacy and dispensing medicine

You will not be able to work in a pharmacy and dispense medicine unless you either have a pharmacy technician license or are a pharmacist (or a pharmacy school student). Being a pharmacology major will not help you in any way. Most pharmaceutical sales reps have no science background what-so-ever. Why not go into UCR with a positive attitude, most kids that I have known that go there really like it, and go from there. And definitely make an appointment with a counselor.

Yaa but the only reason I am going to UCR is because of the financial package it’s offering me
I didn’t get accepted any other UC since I had low SAT scores
I hate the area- my dad worked yhere for 15 years it was a garbage/trash area so I don’t want to go there
