Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

I am currently in Community College and I am about to graduate next semester and I was just wondering what would be best for me to do. My current plans for after I graduate is to either double major in electrical and mechanical engineering and get a masters in systems engineering or major in one of majors and get my masters in both or double major in physics and mathematics and get my masters in on of those choices. I am leaning towards the first choice however after reading some of these engineering threads I am thinking of just getting a Bachelors Degree in one of those and getting my masters in both. I am hoping that with a dual masters degree in mechanical and electrical engineering not only will I be favorable to companies but I will also have the skills to start some side projects that I hope to start in the the future.

The practical advantage of a double major is overrated. Pick one major and take all of the electives you like in the other. That way, you’ll have the skillset you want and you can avoid wasting an extra year or taking useless classes that you’d hate.
EE+Statics/Dynamics and MechE+Circuits+Signal/Systems are both decent combinations that require only a few extra classes.
Get a masters degree when you actually want to use it. Unlike undergraduate, you really don’t lose much by choosing to take it later and looking for work instead. 5 years experience -> MS is the same as MS-> 5 years experience to almost all employers.
