Accepted into the School of Business!

Wooooooooo!

No vested interest here, but see the following cut and pasted from UDEl website: Note the last sentence where they say admissions will be coming:

The major change in our application this year is that we will no longer accept Early Decision applications. After much consideration, the University of Delaware Admissions Committee has decided to eliminate its binding Early Decision admission plan. We will instead notify all of our freshman applicants by mid-March.

To the OP: are you a recruited athlete or some other special situation?

For the first time this year, UD decided to start notifying Delaware residents of their acceptance in January.

"We will start sending out admission decisions after January 1, 2009 on a rolling basis to Delaware residents who are applying for Fall 2009 freshman admission. Regardless of when you are admitted, you will still have until May 1, 2009 to accept or decline our offer of admission."

Congratulations, Jstyles!

Ah....I see......just wanted to make sure OP wasn't starting a panic......congrats.!!

Correct. Most in-state applicants who applied before 12/1 got their letters today.

Jstyles... Does UDel have different ( unstated ) standards of admission for in state kids vs. OOS applicants ?

Yes, if you look above Mattmoosemom describes the differences for instate applicants vs. OOS. It's rolling notification for in-state starting today, while OOS doesn't find out till Mid-March. Sorry:(

what were your/accepted students stats?

Hey Jstyles and Plain whitetyler....out of curiousity what school do you guys go to, Im assuming your from Delaware since you got your admissions already.

Congrats, guys!!! I'm OOS, so I don't find out for a while...

Delaware is the last school I am waiting to hear from. It is my top choice but I am out of state and guess I have to sweat it out a little longer until they send stuff to us out of state people.

Will they mail ours out at the beginning of March?

Donman, UD was my son's first choice, too, and he heard later than all his friends. He didn't hear until the 1st week in April, but they offered a nice scholarship, so it all worked out. But he sweated it out for weeks before he finally heard. I wouldn't assume you didn't get in if you hear later than other students you know.

Congrats, Jstyles!

i am out of state too, from NJ

I heard they dont even give you a response until END OF MARCH.

how can they make you wait that long

Thanks for the information. Glad to hear your son got in! Hope I'm that lucky. I've heard that it's pretty hard to get in and there is so much competition. I have good grades but not the highest SAT scores. I'm also OOS so it could be tough.

Please post your stats...

My D is in-state and last week got her acceptance for UD. Her major is computer engineering.

Yes the in-state requirements are completely different than out of state. And it depends on the major. But on the UofD website, there is a seperate section for in-state applicants.

Delaware is a very small state; roughly 500,00 people. So to recruit 1,000+ in-state students each year is not easy. I have not done the numbers, but maybe 6,000 kids graudate high school each year in the whole state.

My daugther got her acceptance letter in 3 weeks.

Her SAT combined is 2050. GPA- not sure. class rank 18/300+
She is taking AP english+calculus

I got officially accepted today!!! :D Feels good, man.

I'm OOS but I got notified 'cause I'm in the running for the Distinguished Scholar scholarships (I got the letter about that yesterday, so I pretty much knew I was accepted, but it was awesome to get an actual letter saying that I'm in). My major is 'Cognitive Science Interest' & I was also accepted into the Honors Program.

GPA is 4.0 & SAT 2390.

^^^uh, what are you doing even considering UDel with those SAT scores...?
