miesha5, Demomma, (pgddad) My S does the same thing - searches ‘accepted udel’ on twitter…constant stream of Welcome pack photos…I want to cry too for him - he runs home, checks mailbox, goes to blue hen portal - then to twitter…waiting and waiting…I asked for him to “show” me the email today - was sent Monday. PS Demomma, I was born and raised Newark, DE - went to NHS then down street to UD.

@DoubleDel… We are feeling your pain. We are lifelong DE residents and I am NOT exaggerating when I say that my D is making herself physically sick from all this stress. Everyday she comes home with headaches from school. She has said on more than one occasion “Mom, these people hold my future in their hands!” My heart breaks for her and God forbid she doesn’t get into UD! She has already told everyone she will be “crushed”.

what are you guys thinks about the email ? what are your thoughts about it why would they send it now

Maybe the email was sent in hopes it would cut back on phone calls and emails inquiring about application/admissions status. D has been reporting about fellow classmates getting acceptance over the last month however have heard nobody report a denial or wait list. I really hope they are not holding all denials to be sent out in the next few weeks. Has anyone heard of anyone getting a denial letter from Udel yet?

@bzylizy hadn’t thought of that but thanks for that ray of sunshine :(( anything is possible

Sorry for the half empty perspective! D will be very disappointed if she does not get an acceptance but I know she will be successful no matter where she goes.

@miesha re Email. Don’t know but it makes me nervous. - it read more like @bzylizy mentioned. Also @bzylizy I have not seen or heard and S has not seen or heard any wait list or denied. OMG I hope that does not mean that we are them. @demomma - I am shocked you haven’t heard given your preferred status. I mean really. With two thru UD and one in? AND in state? What the heck? Seems like all the kids posted had these off-the-charts stats. I’m depressed about this tonight. sorry guys. I am trying to caution my S that this might not happen.

@lefty1 Hear anything? Email? Email sent on Monday 2/24 to all waiting apparently - or so my S says - but how would he know for sure? He doesn’t of course. So I guess I am not the only one on here on peeks into the mailbox every day in hopes of seeing something bright yellow? lol.

Hi everyone! I am a mom of Daughter waiting to hear! And as you can tell by my screen name…I want to scream! This college process has been crazy so far for D2. D1 was early decision got into washu and it was a breeze! we are on week 15 and have recd NOTHING from UDEL. I have emailed the RI rep and the first time she was so nice…second time not answering me. Online chat tells you absolutely nothing! Called financial aid because I had the following message when I clicked on FAFSA upper right hand corner of Portal. “We have received your FAFSA and have determined that you are eligible to receive financial aid awards, which could include need-based grants, loans and federal work study. Shortly after your admission offer, more detailed information, including the conditions for maintaining your awards, will be available on this site from the My Awards and Financing → FAAN (Fin. Aid Award Notice) link.” Has anyone else seen this type of message? it does say admission offer not admission decision… The financial aid man told me I was digging too deep because I was on the UDEL student financial services homepage and saw her acct set up with a bunch of N/A everywhere. There was a blurb there that said there could be an error on FAFSA…turns out there was a number transposed and had I not dug too deep never would have found it! I recall speaking to a student receptionist in admissions and they said they make the decision and THEN turn everything over to financial aid. I just don’t know what to think anymore. She has 1820 SAT 3.4 GPA unweighted some EC…exec board of Best Buddies…Dances competitively…Great essay and Great recs. Who knows? Thankfully she is into 4 schools already and will hear from UCONN this saturday. I would say UCONN is top choice and then UDEL. I am not a fan of this new rolling admission process they adopted.

@Double Del…we are pretty shocked too! D has great stats too and lots of good EC and phenomenal rec. letters. A former classmate of hers from another high school has already been accepted to Nursing and the 2 girls literally have nearly identical stats. I have been on the online chat a few times and I think they have standard answers to questions that they give out. I asked them why this is taking so long and they said maybe it would be helpful if we sent in my D mid term grades. I told her the mid term grades were sent to UD on 2/3/14 and after putting me on hold she came back and said “after looking deeper into your D file I see that we do have her mid term grades” AND every time I ask about Commitment to Delawareans I get some round about song and dance routine. Thank goodness D has been accepted to another Nursing school with a scholarship but UD is where she wanted to go! I think it’s so sad the way we are all jumping on any little change to the portals…it just goes to show how poorly this new rolling admissions process is and how much stress this is putting on our children…and us parents too!

Sent mid term grades almost a month ago now and still waiting. . . . one question: Had ANYONE heard of any “rejections?” I’m starting to worry about this. . . . .

I haven’t heard of any rejections but I worry about certain majors, like Nursing, for example that only take a very limited number of students each year. Hope those competitive majors aren’t already full and the kids still waiting get their 2nd choice or University Studies.

My in state Daughter applied in early January and was notified of her acceptance to honors 3 weeks later. Some of her friends who applied much earlier still have not heard anything yet. I think it is awful of UD to keep all these in state kids in limbo! DEmomma, I cannot believe that with your family full of UD legacy students, your Daughter still has not been accepted. It is such a blow to the psyche of these kids when they are surrounded by classmates who have already heard. Shame on UD admissions! They clearly have not figured out their new admissions process in any fashion. I hope you get the good news you are hoping for soon and that your Daughter is not soured on attending UD.

@iwanttoscream - My S portal has the exact same message under FAFSA. Thanks for letting me know to click on it because I wouldn’t have done that unless I read your post. Exact same message. I want to scream too. Great screen name. I get it. S got accepted to PS University Park beginning summer program. Sign up for classes started Feb 18. We haven’t done so because we are still waiting to hear from UD and I have to make deposit and apply again for FAFSA for year prior - since it is part of the 2013 year. Yet, if we wait much longer, choice classes will be gone.

To all - this is so painful because it has been SUCH a long haul for these kids and their parents. From the day they began 9th grade - thru the grueling college app process - the essays - the SATs, the GPAs, the ECs, the FAFSA - the where will my child be 6 months from now? The pressure and the competition is over the top. I don’t know if you all saw this in the news, but this year is the last year that the # of college apps will be so high - after this year, the population of college-ready begins to decline for the first time in decades. I am sending my blessings out to all of you on here. I feel your anguish. We all want nothing more in our lifetime than to see our children happy - for them to achieve their dreams. I know it’s not appropriate (or healthy or realistic) for a parent or a student to have or put all their dreams in one basket (UDel), but it happens. They visit a college and fall in love. They know it’s where they belong. They know that’s where they will fit in. We traveled from Maine to NC over the last year. We went back to UD 4 times. And you know what? If these kids are accepted - these kids who want it with all their heart and have undoubtedly expressed this “desire factor” to UD - they will be exactly the kind of student every college ‘should’ hope to fill their campus; they may not all be the ones with the 4.0+ GPAs and near-perfect SAT scores who could go wherever they want- but they will be so grateful, their pride will provide a beaming light throughout the school, they will be the ambassadors… And should it not happen…I also know it will just be one of life’s many lessons in dealing with rejection and disappointment; accepting that as such, and moving on.

Nuff’’ said. I will remember you all on here as we wait together…and I wish each and every one of you and your beloved S or D the very very best. xo

Just checked my D portal for the 4th time today and her status has changed to “Applicant” and “Application is under Review”. This morning it said “Application” and “Once your final decision has been made official notification via US mail”…why the change? Anyone else’s change?

If UDel is reading this board, I strongly suggest that as you review what happened this year with your “new” process, you see that in the long run, it is kinder to send out the definite “rejections” as soon as you have them, so that the students can move on, and give more consideration to their other options!

@DEmomma same thing happened to my D 2 weeks ago thats what hers read applicant then it went back to application once your blagh blagh blagh its changed back and fourth 4 times

Well, my son’s portal changed…he got denied. I checked earlier today and there was no change and I just checked when I got home from work and it’s changed. This was his 14th week :(

Sorry @maxthedogsmom…this would be the first denied posted on this site for this year. I hope your S has other great choices. It will work out for him and he will find his place.
