Happy New Year everyone. Now that we are starting into 2014 hopefully UD will begin once again, after the holiday week break for most departments, to announce further acceptances and this thread can get moving again in earnest. Again good luck to all applicants. Has anyone heard of any Honors Program acceptances from OOS?

Hi everyone! I was hoping you would be able to chance me? UDel is my top choice and one of the only schools I haven’t heard from. I was already admitted to UMass (Hospitality Management), Alabama (Marketing), West Virginia (Marketing), Ole Miss (Marketing) and Johnson and Wales (Marketing). I am applying to UDel as 1st choice Marketing and 2nd choice Hospitality Studies.
-3.1 Unweighted GPA but had all As for my 1st quarter and sent them to UDel
-1820 SAT (650 Math, 650 English, 520 Writing)
-President of DECA Chapter, placed 3rd in the world in competition
-Vice President of SADD Chapter
-Historian, Publicity Director and Membership Director of FBLA Chapter
-Model U.N., won the Outstanding First Year Delegate Award
-Organized fundraisers for March of Dimes, NJ Food Bank, the Seeing Eye Foundation and Habitat for Humanity
-Very good interview
-Very good Common App essay
-Amazing teacher recommendation

I’d let you in but I’m not on the admissions committee.

lhollander, your GPA seems a bit low but your extra curriculars look great. Nice to see you organized a fund raiser for Seeing Eye. My D is an active member of UD’s RSO ProUD that raises pups for Seeing Eye. She is also a Marketing/ Business Management double major and loves it. I think you will def get into the Hospitality as a back up and a good chance for the Business. I’m guessing you are also from NJ so that’s the only thing that may work against you. So many qualified applicants from our state. Good Luck to you! :)

Anyone else get accepted? If so please say your stats and where you’re from I’m still waiting and I’m soo nervous

I was accepted! I did not apply to the Honors Program…maybe I should’ve.

Notified via Snail Mail on Dec. 23rd

New Jersey

International Relations Major

4.08 weighted GPA (I believe UD takes elective courses out of your GPA…so my GPA on their reconfigured scale is a 3.99 I believe)

2040 SAT (640CR/700M/710W)

$9,000 annual scholarship, which came in the mail about a week later. However, scholarship information is available once you receive your decision on the Blue Hen Home website on the right side under “My Awards and Financing”.

UD isn’t my top choice school, but, out of my 3 safety schools, it is my favorite. The emphasis on study abroad and the scholarship money are making me think that UD could potentially be a good choice for me. I’m still waiting on 6 more schools though.

Where else did you apply?

I’m applying to American University, George Washington, NYU, Boston University, Northeastern University, and TCNJ. Plus, I’ve already been accepted to Penn State. AU, GWU, and NU are my top choices because of their locations and internship/co-op/study abroad opportunities.

Applied to Northwestern, Michigan, Wisconsin, UNC, UMass, Delaware and TCNJ

Mikesal96: Do you know the date you applied?

I sent in my completed app on 11/6. I know someone who sent her app in a couple of weeks later and hasn’t heard back yet, so I assume that she (and you) will get notified next time they send out another batch of decisions.

i applied back in mid october. online next to next to status it says “applicant” and next to decision it says “notification via mail”. I called yesterday cause I’ve been so confused why its said that for the past 4-5 weeks and they told me that they haven’t made a decision as of yet and haven’t even looked at my app and when they do make my decision, ill be notified via mail. I just find this a little strange how some people find out online and some people find out through mail and plus since i applied back in october i think i should’ve gotten my decision back already. Maybe they moved my app towards the back of the pile cause I’m a little below par? weighted GPA is 3.51 and ACT is a 25. My EC’s are amazing along with my essays and have over 150 hours of community service for those of you that were curious.

@atj1996, hopefully this will help. My D is a junior at UD and we have been thru this before. The staus “notification via mail” means nothing more than you will get your acceptance/rejection or whatever via mail. It doesn’t mean that anything has gone out. While UD does post online they don’t really tell you that they officially do. In fact the year my D got accepted they had a glitch in the system and several people were able to access an accepted student section even though they had been rejected. In any case, they will update your My Blue Hen and it will say congrats, but they officially notify you via mail which is what that status means. Nothing more nothing less, it does not mean a decision has gone out in the mail. We too were very confused by this years ago so I know what you are going thru. With respect to your stats, I wouldn’t say you are below par although it will depend on where you are as the numbers might be more competitive if you are from NY/NJ area. Good luck to you, 3 years ago we had to wait until the end of March to get a decision, at least now there is rolling admission.

@dogsrthebest thank you very much! You were very helpful! I’m glad to hear that it worked out with your daughter and hopefully it’ll work out for me too. Btw I am from NY and I hear this year is very competitive but we’ll see. I’ll post once I hear a decision. Thanks again!

I called. They said the decision was made and I should learn soon. Told me to keep checking the site.

For those that have been accepted what day of the week was it posted on your blue hen page? Do they update them throughout the week all day or is it just a specific day and time

thats what i was wondering ^

There does not seem to be any consistant, reliable pattern as to how and when UD notifies students of acceptances, especially now with rolling admissions. Some students find out first on their MY Blue Hen site, others by email, and others hear first by snail mail (which is the only “official” notification). Unfortunately you just need to keep checking on-line and checking your home mailbox. In the past when they began to initially notify OOS students of acceptances beginning in mid March they used to mail out the first acceptances on a Friday with web pages often changing beginning the next week. Acceptances were then sent out over a 2-4 week time span with no consistent pattern identifiable with some students not hearing until much later in the month. Again good luck to all applicants.

My son got his acceptance in the mail on Saturday 12/20. We weren’t expecting to hear so soon, so he hadn’t been checking online. He did look online after he received his acceptance and his My Blue Hen page was updated. Since it was a Saturday when he checked and it had already been updated to congratulate him on being accepted, I am sure it was updated before he actually received his package in the mail. I would keep checking online. My guess is that they update it at the same time that they send out the letters.

I am very surprised that we have not heard (at least on this Board) of any recent (since 12/25) OOS acceptances. Perhaps things will pick over the next week or two, as the application deadline is January 15th, so by this time UD should have a pretty good picture of the total overall applicant pool and will hopefully then feel more comfortable in announcing decisions. Of their usual 10-12,000 acceptances it would appear (at least based on comments on this thread) that only a relatively small number of OOS acceptances have been announced thus far. As usual good luck to all applicants.
