Sick. of. it. (

@miesha5, @DoubleDel and the gang…this is nuts! I must check that darn portal 6-7 times a day and since it’s been almost 2 weeks since receiving that blasted email I’m a bigger wreck everyday! I figure next week has to be the week right!?! Oh who the heck knows! :-w

guys I’m beginning to think the email meant a- nothing b- we are in for some bad news c- they sent it to keep us hanging on because we are basically the wait list the ones on the cusp and they are waiting on deposits or on particular yes or no for each of our majors what are we all waiting on? Shannon waiting on athletic training

@miesha5-yeah I was thinking the same thing but I refuse to give up entirely. We still know lots of kids who haven’t heard from UD and my D goes to a private school that traditionally is a huge feeder school for UD. Her guidance counselor basically thinks my Ds UD admission is a shoe in…wish I was that optimistic. My heart breaks for my D a little more everyday. She met the mailman at the mailbox today, praying for a yellow envelope. He even told her that he hasn’t seen any of those for quite a while…UD, what’s up?! If they sent out that stupid, meant nothing email, to turn around and eventually say no then that to me is just worse than coming right out and saying no in the first place…it gives possible false hope to these kids who have waited and stressed and suffered enough as it is!

I agree @DEmomma I feel like you why send it if not going to be positive however my husband is not feeling the same as me thank god we hide our feelings from our D

My D intended major is business…marketing. Glad our French exchange student arrived yesterday to keep D busy and take her mind off Udel for a week starting to feel like Charlie from Willie Wonka every time I flip open the mailbox and look for the yellow envelope!

found out about a month ago and committed almost instantly. Took 10 almost 11 weeks. admissions was very unorganized and never told us to send mid year grades but we did anyways and found out a few days later. A lot of people are still hearing but I do know a few who have been rejected as well. Mid march has always been the time udel sent out decisions in the past so I’m sure it won’t be much longer for all decisions. My guess would be end of march the latest.

@bzylizy…let’s hope we all get to sing the golden ticket song!..“cuz I got a golden ticket, I got a golden ticket!”"
@meisha5. I’m trying to grasp at anything positive here. Ask me at different times throughout the day and you may get a different answer each time. This is so frustrating…and pathetic. I have to say my biggest fear, besides being totally rejected, is that my D will get in but not as Nursing major, as university studies or undeclared.

To all who are still waiting…My D’s portal changed last Saturday morning and we still have not received anything in the mail. I too checked obsessively and also emailed the admission rep directly who is responsible for our state. At one point the admissions secretary(student) said that once decisions are made THEN they send them to financial aide office to get started with that. I started to poke around the financial aid page and saw that my daughter had an account set up and all the areas were blank or had N/A. When I clicked on the FAFSA optional link on the upper right hand corner of the portal it had the following message…

We have received your FAFSA and have determined that you are eligible to receive financial aid awards, which could include need-based grants, loans and federal work study. Shortly after your admission offer, more detailed information, including the conditions for maintaining your awards, will be available on this site from the My Awards and Financing -> FAAN (Fin. Aid Award Notice) link.

I put 2 and 2 together and began to have a hunch she was accepted.

@meisha5 - thinking same. very concerned. My S remains hopeful; I wish he wasn’t so hopeful…I wish he would actually begin to acknowledge/accept that it just might not happen. He wants so bad to go online and buy a UD sweatshirt, but refuses to do so because he says its bad luck.
@bzylizy - love your dog photo. Everytime I see that face, it reminds me of myself and how I look each day when no yellow letter, no portal change. I wonder how much guidance counselor’s actually know? Several kids from my son’s school have already been accepted. My son requested Psychology. You’d think that would be fairly easy and wide open. Who the heck knows.

All - really what worries me the most is the lack of rejections/denied we have heard about. Our dear friend on this board posted sadly and bravely late last week, and a recent poster mentioned one. That is all I have heard about. THAT’s what worries me. What do you guys think?

I agree as we sit her one of my D friends moms who I haven’t spoken to in awhile just called and asked who shannon was waiting to hear from and I told her and she goes oh my D GOT IN THERE WEEKS AGO :((

I do know of several eligible candidates that are still waiting to hear. Hang on gang! I’m not giving up on you all!

<a href=“Advice for Getting Into College/University - Delaware - A must read.”>http://www.applyingtoschool.com/forms/university_of_delaware.aspx
8% admitted? And this was a couple of years ago?

Source for those number? Those numbers seem highly inaccurate. It’s More like 65% of Delawareans are accepted and 50% of OOS-ers.

From UD’s website: <a href=“First-Year Out-of-State Students | University of Delaware”>Undergraduate Admissions | University of Delaware;

“The University of Delaware admits all Delawareans whose academic records predict success. Approximately 65% of the Delawarean applicants were offered admission to the Newark campus, and 25% were admitted to the Associate in Arts program at Georgetown, Dover, or Wilmington”

Number of Out-of-State Freshmen
2,536
"We generally admit between 45-55% of the out-of-state students who apply. "

There are variations however, depending on what major a person is applying to. For example, the OOS acceptance rate for majors like chemical engineering and Nursing are below 20%.

@iwanttoscream-I clicked on the FAFSA link on my Ds portal and it has the same msg as yours had. I sure hope it means my D is accepted into her major although I am telling myself over and over NOT to read into anything too much until we see “Congratulations” in black and white (and blue and gold) in front of our noses.

@DEmomma when did you submit FAFSA ? I WAS LATE ONLY SUBMITTED IT SUNDAY AND DID NOT INCLUDEE IT ON APPLICATION SO NOW IT JUST SAYS THEY ARE WAITING FOR IT DO YOU GUYS THINK THAT HOLDS EVERYTHING UP WE KINDA KNEW WE WERE NOT GETTING ANYTHING SO WE WERE NOT IN A RUSH

@miesha5 we submitted FAFSA Jan 25. I hate doing the darn thing so I like to get it done and out of the way

A late FAFSA completion only delays when you receive your total financial aid package. Completion shouldn’t affect an admission decision.
