Delaware Class of 2018 Acceptances

So…now that we know she is accepted…just checked financial aid section…now has info. It is only showing student loan info As a result of our FASFA (which is a joke). Any chance any merit award will be added?? I was not expecting much considering it is a state school and she is not in any honors programs…but univ of Rhode Island offered a decent amount.

I was accepted back in February and my merit aid was just posted! I posted my stats earlier but I have 30 ACT, 4.02 gpa, top 40% of class at nationally ranked high school, and more extracurriculars than anyone can count. I’m an out of state nursing student and I got $7500 per year.

@PERplexD, that is an interesting observation. I just looked at my D’s Merit letter and it too is dated 2/28. Accepted 2/17, merit letter received 3/8.

@mspindel thanks for the info. I will not give up hope just yet. D SAT were so so…she is not a good standardized test taker. Her GPA is very good and I am sure she is in top 40% or better with many EC…also member of both National Honor Society and English National Honor Society. Hope that counts for something. Udel is her number 1.

I received my merit aid today but i was confused as to which one do the others on this board post, the federal pell grant or the University’s grant?

There are merit scholarships based solely on academic achievement, and then there are financial aid awards that are directly related to the FAFSA numbers. If you’re seeing grants, those are financial aid awards.

@bzylizy…we got a letter in the mail regarding merit. There was nothing online about it, even with the letter in hand. They may have updated online, but we haven’t checked. We were surprised to receive anything.

@jy1995…it doesn’t matter. Post whatever you want to share. The info can always help another person.

The website used to have D’s merit award until the past few weeks when it was down as the university worked on financial aid. I just checked and her merit ($9k) is back up, along with a $5k unsubsidized loan (I think someone said that is the usual amount).

did anyone find out their decision today?! i am anxiously waiting :frowning:

NO WE A RE WAITING TOO

@miesha5 what major are you hoping to get into?

We are still waiting too! Applied 10/23!

APPLIED 10/8 WAS ORIG EXERCISE SCIENCE NOW ATHLETIC TRAINING BECAUSE D WAS DENIED FIRST MAJOR ): BEEN WAITING EVER SINCE

I am hoping that if they had no interest in these students they would have sent rejection letters out instead of making them wait almost 5 months to decide!

@miesha5 how did your D go about reapplying for a different major after being denied? when did she first hear that she was denied?

well that was my thought for a really long time even when they sent her an email 2 weeks ago but they sent out
decisions the last 2 fridays and she’s was not in them so my thought process has changed and I’m really worried really worried why they would make them wait this long and then not take them your guess is as good as mine but thats is the way I’m thinking at this point i hope to god I’m wrong i really do

@collegetalk3 no she had a first and 2nd choice major when it was taking so long we called and they said her first choice major was no go and it went on to her 2nd choice major for review ??? thats what they told us i think everyone picks a back up major usually its university studies undeclared

@miesha5 did they tell you when you should be hearing back?

OH YES LOL EVERY WEEK THEY SAY ANY TIME NOW SHE AT THE END OF THE PROCESS OK RIGHT

They seem to post changes to portal’s on Friday so unfortunately you might have to wait thru the week…again :(
