Well the theory of them waiting till friday went out the window for me D had 2 friends who found out on their portal one yesterday one tuesday she told me last night so there goes that … :((

Do you know if they were acceptances or denials?

acceptances !!!

Sorry to hear that @miesha5. I know the wait is tough but hopefully it will be worth the wait. It is encouraging to see they are acceptance notifications. Hang in there!

Thanks but in my eyes they are just 2 more spots gone and my D JUST PUT BACK TO THE PAY YOU NO MIND SINCE OCT PILE AT THIS POINT ITS JUST MAKING HER FEEL LIKE SHES NOT WORTH IT AND THAT IF SHE WAS THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN HER I AND I CANT BLAME HER SOME OF THESE KIDS DIDNT EVEN APPLY TILL DEC you know it makes me think maryland did the right thing everyone apply by nov 1 you hear jan 31 win or lose its all equal no guessing she took that better this … this is insane its heartbreaking and stressful

Again it could be major driven or a number of other factors. While it is hard don’t read into any of this. Hopefully there will be some closure one way or the other for you guys today! Keeping the faith!

sorry guys I know i have been a drag my D went to a huge hs 700 in her class sports were impossible everything was she did her best I guess like the above post have stated you need everything to be great its not just gpa sat essay its everything

It’s not really about being great, it is about what they think is the right fit for them and the student. All of these kids are GREAT!!

I would counter your perspective by asserting that if UD has made a final determination that your D is not qualified for admission then she would have been so notified by now. I also agree with dogsrthebest. If I recall correctly your D is now being considered for Athlectic Training major as her second choice after being told she would not be accepted for Exercise Science. Actually Athletic Training is also a very competitive major area for admission and this is most likely the reason it is taking so long. Based upon the scholastic achievements you previously reported for your D I would be of the perspective (obviously no guarantee) that if she had listed (and wanted) University Studies as her second choice that she would probably have been accepted by now to University Studies (but of course she would have to apply later for a major area and would not be guaranteed her choice). In fact I would not be surprised that if she is not accepted or offered wait list for Athletic Training that she might be offered University Studies (she might even want to consider contacting them and making them aware of this if she is at all interested in this approach and is willing to seriously consider University Studies). I don’t know if she would be interested in this but there is more then one way to skin a cat. Just my perspective. I believe your D is underestimating her qualifications. I believe it is the competitiveness of the major she is being considered for that is the main issue right now. Again best of luck.

@miesha5 I’m sorry you’re daughter is going through this stress but she’s fortunate to have you supporting her and believing in her!

I just want to throw in my two cents: When two of your daughter’s friends were accepted recently you stated: “in my eyes they are just 2 more spots gone”…while that’s true (if they accept) you should also keep in mind that thousands of accepted students will be DECLINING UDel offers of admission in the next 30+ days in order to attend college elsewhere! This could potentially “open up more spots!”

Good luck! :)

^^^^exactly! We are not taking our spot at UD. It may not be in the intended major for your D, but it will be open for another spot for an ENG. student.

I know guys sorry i really didn’t mean it that way sorry i just don’t even know what I’m saying anymore and thanks @ Mwallenmd took your advice and emailed them about her major and what she would be willing to do tried calling but they are in meeting thanks again everyone

When you email admissions…how long does it take for them to respond?

They said 5 days lol

That’s what they said in the automatic reply along with it taking 8-12 weeks for decisions. We are at 20 weeks:-)

Portal change: admitted! and Yellow Letter arrived today also! @miesha5 - check your status again. I am praying for you. We are over the top excited. Also got major wanted: psychology. We are in NJ so will be going to the admitted local students day. Anyone else on here going to one in NJ? Let’s meet after all we’ve been thru together. And, let’s keep rooting and praying for those who are still waiting.

NO YELLOW ENVELOPE NO PORTAL CHANGE BUT I AM SO VERY VERY HAPPY FOR YOU :">

@miesha5 - call you D’s guidance counselor and ask them to call Udel Admission Rep who reads your D’s school applications and find out status. I had to do that, and the guidance counselor did call; he wouldn’t share any info with me…other than to “think positive”.

@miesha5 - what state are you from?

her guidance is on maternity leave of course
