@miesha5 - omg. What the h? Guidance Counselors play a significant role in all of this - if they are good.

Just spoke with a very lovely woman in admissions. I just wanted to know what the cut-off date was as everywhere we applied had a definitive end date. She was very helpful and apologetic. She said they HOPED that everyone would have a decision by April 1st, so obviously that date is not 100%. She also checked my daughter’s file and said a decision has not been made yet - lol! So, I guess the takeaway is that they are still working on applications and may continue to do so for a few more weeks.

@miesha5 - I cannot believe the struggles you are enduring. I, for one, have put on a good 15 pounds from emotional stress eating, have been drinking my fair share of wine to combat anxiety, and now am having those fever blister things breaks out on my lips. 3:-O X_X [-O< @-) . We are also Superstorm Sandy victims - lost everything and still displaced AND as a single parent, I recently was downsized (laid off) because my co was sold. We needed ONE win, just one sign of hope…I pray for you, but I must tell you - I have very good vibes about what you will hear. JMO. Don’t lose faith. Pray. Believe. If it is meant to be, it will happen.

@DoubleDel congrats! we are going to accepted students event in Hanover on the 18th. Not sure where in NJ you are. @Miesha5 ughhhhhh! I was so hoping today was your day!! :/

@lefty1 - Thank you so much. We are at the Jersey Shore (north part). Lost our home to Sandy but now in a rental in same general area. We’ll sign up for Hanover and meet!

@DoubleDel and @lefty1 we are also going on the 18th. @Miesha5, we are pulling for your D. She sounds like a great candidate and is so lucky to have a mom like you on her side. Keep the faith!

FYI everyone - here’s how absolutely unpredictable admissions-stuff is: My S applied to 10 schools. UD was #1 by far. He was accepted into 5 including Penn State University Park, waitlisted on 2, and as of today - denied from 3 NJ schools (we’re in-state!) Yup - denied Rutgers, TCNJ and even Ramapo. Go figure!

@miesha5 - no portal change here either This has been very frustrating and disappointing
I will call S counselor on Monday, not sure that will help. I wish he could change his major to help the process.
He applied for Business 1st, Information Systems 2nd. I can’t believe how 8 weeks turned into 20.
At least I know we are not alone :(

@DoubleDel - Congrats to you and anyone else that received good news today :)

Wow! Now the Financial Aid Info has also been added to the portal. No merit. Just grants & loans. $-) But I did submit FAFSA Jan 5.

My S is in same boat as Miesha’s D. Still waiting…friends have gotten in, etc. I think the delay could be due to the major applied for. My S applied to a small major and I’ve been wondering if he had applied to University Studies or Psych (his 3rd choice major and one of the two biggest majors at the school according to their website) he might have been accepted. Afraid to switch now as he must be somewhat in the running for his requested major or he would have been rejected by now. I too check portal multiple times per day. I’m sorry to hear the 4/1 date someone referenced. I thought today would be it. He applied in early Nov, they requested first semester grades, and he was told a decision would be made “early March”.

@soccermom21 we are in the same boat too with the letter and being told 8 weeks. I wish my S could switch
majors now. Other kids from his school just were admitted today. I guess we still have hope if we didn’t
receive a rejection. Keep the faith :)

I have been following this forum for a while but never made an account. Just to give you guys faith, I was just accepted on the portal. It was changed sometime between 4 and 5:45. I am from NY.

being told 8 weeks from now, or you were told 8 weeks 8 weeks ago?

@soccerMom it can’t be 8 weeks from now as 5/1 is a national deadline to let schools know that you accept or reject them.

@DoubleDel Congratulations! Great news!! Now I just keep praying for @miesha5! I feel her pain and feel so bad! Prayers to everyone else too and fingers crossed! Did you hear from TCNJ today? We are still waiting to hear from them. Not looking promising for my D with them and we are in state too!

.

@dogsthebest of course you are right…can’t be 8 weeks from now. Hope S gets good news soon.

Titans76. Where is the session on Sun in Boston?
