@Finqbu, at least you heard something very positive. Sounds like the update is just a formality for you. For us, last contact was an email about in February stating 2 to 3 weeks for decision. It’s getting very hard to stay positive. The #1 choice university is UD and the only one we are still waiting to hear from!

Honestly, at what point does this get disrespectful of these kids? They are trying to make one of the biggest decisions of their life so far and UD committed to 8-12 weeks back in October, then just 2-3 more weeks back in February.

It’s too late now, right? Should I just stop checking until monday?

UD is the last school I’m waiting for and it’s my top choice. I don’t want us to waiting this long just to be rejected you know?

@meisha5, did you visit UDel and find out anything about your wait list questions?

hi yes we did visit they will not know anything about the list until late april early may but all she could say was at t this time all decisions were made which i know can’t be true because there are so many still waiting she did say they do have intentions on taking as many as they can off the wait list but it is a numbers game and a lot of things come into play major being one i wish i could be of more help if you have more questions I’m here

Thanks for the tip MWALLENMD! When I called Admissions Friday they said her portal would change at 6 pm, it still has not. They said they were mailing her packet Friday as well but it did not arrive Saturday, so it might do so on Monday. We will wait until Pitt’s final offer and move on regardless. Good luck and best wishes to all. We applied last October and it’s been an insanely long journey.

Actually IMHO I believe the information you received from UD about decisions already being made is probably pretty accurate. As we have seen from several previous posts on this thread several applicants have already been made aware (from what appear to be reliable sources at UD) that they have been accepted to UD but have not as yet received the official notification or seen a portal change. I doubt they would be identifying and notifying people of waitlist offers if they are still not sure of the number of people they will actually be accepting. However the notification process may be delayed at this late stage as they may be doing it by major applied to. Notification may also be delayed as they are making some final determinations for some applicants regarding merit aid (I know of at least several OOS applicants who are still waiting to hear who have very high “stats” and , based at least on past years, I cannot believe that they would not be awarded some decent merit aid). Has anyone as of now been waitlisted for University Studies?-I suspect this might be the last applicant pool that would be notified (again at this late stage) about acceptances and waitlist offers. It is also obvious from all the weird changes we have seen in people’s portals that UD is having some computer issues this year which also might be playing a role in the delay of notification. These are just my thoughts, I could be totally wrong. Once again good luck to all those still waiting. I would bet this will all be over with by the end of this coming week, if not earlier in the week.

still nothing : ( daughter applied to large amount of schools and heard from all except u del #1 choice :(

Guidance counselor called admissions and found out that my nephew was accepted. My Blue Hen did not have the “Congratulations” message that other applicants saw and the welcome packet has not arrived. It appears that applicants have many different ways of finding out about their acceptance status. He is really happy but it has been a stressful waiting period. Best of luck to all!

My daughter applied 93 average, several ap classes, 1700 sat, Girl Scout Gold Award, 2 clubs , 1 sport, community service . Delaware 1st choice. Visited twice plus positive interview. She was accepted to all other schools with nice merit scholarships. Applied To Udel early November and according to admissions , her app was complete Early Dec with a decision to be made 6-8 weeks with new rolling admissions. Finally udel responded last week of March with wait list status. Very disappointing.

So sorry to hear that your D was not formally accepted to UD but did your D accept the waitlist offer? UD usually accepts a decent number off the waitlist with the odds increasing the earlier the waitlist offer is accepted (obviously no guarantee). So your D at least still has a chance of being able to attend if she still has an interest in pursuing this. It really is difficult in trying to reason accurately why UD accepts a student or not. At least hopefully you and she can derive some solace from the fact that at least UD did feel she met the standards they are looking for in students to attend UD but they just did not have “at this point” sufficient space to offer her formal admission. Best of luck to your D in whatever course of action she decides to approve. From the info you presented IMHO she will make a fine student wherever she goes (and it still could possibly be at UD).

Just checked the portal and saw the waiting is over! My S was accepted!

no change here.

no change :(

I’ve been reading everyone’s posts and silently suffering with all of you while my daughter waited for her decision. She applied in October 2013 and got the email in February saying you would hear in two to three weeks and then nothing. We were heading down to re-visit Loyola in Maryland this week and planned on making another visit to UDel, just in case, and when we checked her portal this morning, she was accepted! She is beyond relieved and excited, as am I, but she applied for Business and was admitted in Communications. Anyone have any input on how difficult it is, or even possible, to transfer into the business school. My heart goes out to all of you still waiting. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Honeypie1212 what major was your S accepted in? We are still waiting.

Sanity1:
The following information hopefully will give you some idea of your D’s chances of being able to transfer into the Business School:

Business & Economics:
The Lerner College has a fact sheet which is provided to students interested in transferring into the college. Information about changing into majors available in the Lerner College is available online in .pdf format. All majors are restricted:
Accounting and MIS: Students must have taken MATH 221 and ECON 151/152 courses with a grade of C- or better, and have 28 credit hours completed before they are admitted. ACCT: Minimum GPA of 3.2 also required. MIS applicants are encouraged to take MISY 160.
Economics: ECON-BA and Economics Education require ECON 151/152 with C- grade. ECON-BS requires MATH 221 and ECON 151/152 courses with a grade of C- or better, and have 28 credit hours completed before they are admitted.
Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation: Admission into the major is highly selective due to capacity limitations. Preference will be given to those who have completed ENTR350 or ENTR351. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; however, any student with a demonstrated record of involvement in entrepreneurship will be considered.
Finance: Students must have taken MATH 221 and ECON 151/152 courses with a grade of C- or better, and have 28 credit hours completed before they are admitted. Minimum GPA of 2.8 also required.
Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management (HRIM) majors and Hospitality Industry Studies: Student must have completed 15 credit hours and have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA for 15-60 credit hours.
International Business Studies: Students must have completed ECON 151/152 and MATH 221 with a grade of C- or better, be enrolled in a foreign language course at the time of application, and have 28 credit hours completed. Minimum GPA of 2.7 is also required.
Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Sport Management: Students must have completed ECON 151/152 and MATH 221 with a grade of C- or better, and have 28 credit hours completed before they are admitted. Minimum GPA of 2.7 also required.

What are my chances of being admitted?
The 2012-2013 results for students who applied to change degree programs were as follows:
Accounting: 76% (145 of the 190 applicants) were admitted with a grade point average of 3.34.
Business Administration degree programs: 84% (339 of the 404 applicants) were admitted with a grade
point average of 3.01.
Economics: 99% (182 of the 184 applicants) were admitted with a grade point average of 2.93.
Finance: 91% (308 of the 337 applicants) were admitted with a grade point average of 3.18.
HRIM and HPIS: 87% (58 or the 67 applicants) were admitted with a grade point average of 2.97.
MIS: 98% (55 of the 56 applicants) were admitted with a grade point average of 2.96.

I hope this info is helpful to you. Congrats on her acceptance to UD. If she is interested in trying to do this she should inform her advisor of her interest in doing so when she attends NSO (New Student Orientation). Good luck.

FYI my daughter called Admissions when she got home from school today. The admissions officer checked and said they’ve been having trouble meeting their deadlines and no decision yet. We should check later today or tomorrow.
Then the mail arrived and she was NOT ACCEPTED. So, decision WAS made and phone call was not informative. Anyway, my daughter is happy to finally find out the decision and will move on to accept her next choice, Towson University. She’s handling it very well and excited to make the decision. Proud of her.

Good luck to your D @bigdecision22. This did NOT have to be so hard for so many of us; I can only hope UDel learns from this madness.
