Congratulations everyone! Still rooting for lefty and those who haven’t heard yet. It is so hard to wait! One thing I noticed was the variety of merit given. Many different numbers. With all of my Ds acceptances so far, every school ends up being the same price lol!

Mwallenmd - He applied as an International Relations major and got accepted to it.

RDadPop-thanks for the info and Congrats again to your son.

All colleges have their pros and cons depending on what an applicant is looking for in a college. One of the truly unique benefits of attending UD IMHO is that UD is the only Flagship State University in the country where the majority of students are from OOS (2/3rds of student body). This gives UD more of a flavor of being a private university than a public university at a cost to OOS students which is frequently less than many private national research universities. While it is true that many of the OOS students are from NJ, NY, PA, MD there are increasing numbers from the New England states, VA, FL, and CA. as well as many other states. UD offers the benefits of much larger other national research universities in a more compact setting so students don’t develop a sense of being lost in the crowd. UD has the oldest Study Abroad Program in the country and one of the oldest and most highly respected Honors Programs on the East Coast. Add to this UD’s overall outstanding national academic reputation and you have a school that really can meet any student’s needs and interests. Congrats to all students accepted thus far and good luck to those still waiting to hear.

For those who were accepted, congratulations!! Did you receive a letter (snail mail) first? Or did your status/notification come via “my Blue Hen portal”?

TIA,

Fred~

Fred, My D received her acceptance via her portal first. It was then followed up a few days later with a package. I think there have been some others who have stated just the opposite, but portal then snail mail seems more common.

portal, no mail yet.

I just want to know!! I applied so long ago I’m getting very impatient. I thought I would have already known by now

Pretty much 8 weeks to the day. That’s from submittal. About 6 weeks from when application was considered complete. Hang in there.

My daughter applied 11/2 and just heard yesterday.

got mail for the first time today since Saturday… no official request for term grades yet… the wait continues… :)

left1 spoke to admissions today my D application was original sent in on oct 8 complete on 11/18 when i spoke with them today they told me her application was complete on 12/1 i said how is that possible : answer her first choice major decision made on 11/18 they are on they started her second choice 12/1 which leads me to believe she was denied her first choice i don’t know what else it can be ??? IDEAS ??? AT THIS POINT WE WILL HEAR BACK FROM EVERYONE ELSE B4 THEM ):

miesha5 thanks… that makes perfect sense… My son is applied both undecided and business undecided… I personally think he is a lock for university studies but is on the lower cusp/out of range for business. Hoping his upward trend in grades will sway their decision. Our school will be sending his term grades. I’m thinking we are in that boat that they are holding off to see who else is applying, etc… My D had to wait till Mid March for her answer two years ago so no matter what I feel like I am ahead of the game getting this far. His needs two more that we are due to hear from end of January. He has not heard back from Rugters either I feel for the same reason… he is below the business school range but not arts and science.

thanks again for the update and I hope you hear good news sooner than later!
:)

@meisha - what is your D’s first choice major or school within UD?

@left1 - It dawned on me I see your postings a lot when I am flip flopping between schools on this site. It appears that our S’s are applying to several of the same schools :)

and we both have current students at UD!

My D major is exercise science she’s has already been accepted to Rutgers and Towson we are waiting on UD Maryland UCONN and MARIST She has a gpa of 3.7 which is not the prob and tons of EC And awards she is a 2 sport varsity player and captain here is the issue SAT 1670 AND ACT 25 She did her best Just not the best test taker she has 2 ap’s and this year she is taking 4 college classes so my guess is her SAT ):

@miesha5 I hear ya on the test taking thing. My S not a good test taker at all so this will be his struggle if they put a lot of weight on it. Marist is test optional so I have to believe that even if she submitted her test scores they will understand. Your daughter will do fine wiht any of the schools on her list.

THANKS @dogsrthebest hope everything works out for your s too

My son’s portal still has no decision, but it had said “your application is under review” and now says, “notification via mail.” What does that mean? Oh, I hate this waiting!

The message “notification via mail” is used by UD to inform applicants that the only “official” notification of a decision is by U.S. mail. While it might seem logical to assume that once this message appears that a decision has been made by UD but unfortunately there does not appear to be any reliable, consistent time frame that an applicant can expect that they will actually receive the decision once this message appears on an applicant’s portal. Good luck.
