As some applicants have begun to receive acceptances I thought it would be a good idea for those accepted to provide (as they feel comfortable in doing) info to those still waiting. I would suggest the following:
When your application was deemed complete
Regular or Honors admission
Major accepted to
SAT/ACT scores, GPA, Class rank
Number of Honors, AP, etc. courses taken in HS.
Merit scholarship amounts (if you feel ok divulging)
Hopefully this will help some people out about time frame/stats
Application deemed completed last week in Oct- I dont remember exactly what date. All materials (mine + schools) were in by the first week in October.
Accepted to the Honors Program with $40,000 merit scholarship over the 4 years.
GPA- 97.4, SAT 2200
I didn’t take that many AP’s- 5 total. But every class I took besides these were Honors. I toured the school once. Other than that no connections/hooks/etc. I think I’m a good writer though and my extracurriculars include school leadership, 2 jobs, volunteer work, etc.
UD wasn’t my #1, but I did like it a lot when I visited! Plus honors/money makes it appealing, so it is in the running now.
Regular or Honors admission: Letter said I'd hear about honors by late March.
Major accepted to: Biochemistry
SAT/ACT scores, GPA, Class rank:
SAT I: 1950(710R, 540M, 700W)
SAT II: 760 Bio M, 690 Lit
GPA: 3.567
Class rank: just outside of top half
Number of Honors, AP, etc. courses taken in HS.
Honors: 8
AP: 5:
Dual Enrollment: 1 5 credit class at with a close relationship to UD
Merit scholarship amounts (if you feel ok divulging) Don't know yet, portal hasn't updated.
Odds of attending UD: Very high.
Anything else you want to add.
I showed a very strong upward trend the last three years of high school. Also did lots of music and science extracurriculars so I think that helped. I'm instate if it matters.
I was accepted today as well. My letter said that honors would be decided in Marh. How come some people are told whether or not they have been accepted to the honors college and others not? seems strange to me
Hi everyone I’m just curious where do you get your decision? Do they email you first or is it just somewhere on the portal? My app was marked complete 11/7 and I see @rumorsareflying got their decision after being marked complete on 11/10, so I’m hoping to get mine soon. Thank you in advance for your help
From the looks of it, it seems that the most qualified applicants who applied very early on to Delaware and for Honors are the ones being accepted into the Honors Program now. They probably want to look over all the applications they receive before selecting more-maybe more people applied to the Program this year.
There is no email telling you that the decision is ready, your portal just updates itself and/or a yellow envelope comes in your mailbox.
I applied in mid-October and everything was processed by the end of October, but I haven’t heard anything yet from UDel. It’s my top school, so I’m very anxious. I’m applying to nursing which I know if a bit more competitive than some of the other majors and I also did an interview in November, could either of those things affect when I will receive my decision? (I have a 4.3 GPA (weighted), 31 on the ACTs, and have taken 5 APs throughout high school) Now that I’m seeing that so many people have already received decisions I’m getting worried, should I be concerned?
Hang in there. Seems like they’re coming out sporadically. My D had her app in Oct 4 and just heard today (portal was updated). About the same stats as you - Bio major.
My portal updated today- $1,000 merit scholarship instate. I was a little surprised by how small the scholarship was, but I’m thankful nevertheless. Every little bit helps!
Got my acceptance to UD Honors today. I am an in-state resident and did not receive anything about scholarships with my acceptance letter today. I have a 4.4 GPA, 7 AP classes (All 5’s on the exams thus far) 1400/1600 SAT (2130 total) National Honor Society, Science and Spanish Honor Society and many other awards/activities. I have received amazing money from three other colleges. Is this normal for UD to not give anything? I know students who have gotten at least several thousand a year with far less academic credentials. Any idea why?
