So i heard that they are getting rid of the department soon. So this year is the last year for them to accept engineering students.

I am worried that this means there wont be any new facilities and financial support.

Is it worth it?
Ive been accepted to Case Western and although Delaware gave me more money, im not sure which is better.

And how good is the engineering department anyways?
I saw it ranked as #9??

You’re joking, right?

And youre saying?

Also, i have another question.
How is the social life there?

dhs911230,

Can you share your source of that information regarding the engineering program at UDel?

Thx.

There’s no way that they would eliminate a whole undergraduate college and graduate program that includes fields that get a lot of research funding. There’s no news of this on the web.

I deleted the email. But i remember the person saying that they are getting rid of this one department and starting next year they arent accepting any of the new students for that department.
Perhaps it was my misunderstanding.

dhs911230 - quite the contrary. They have a plan in place to double the size of the College of Engineering by 2020. Check out this link:

I think someone posted on here a while ago that they were eliminating aerospace engineering as a focus area (just needing a few extra courses) in mechanical engineering?

It would be really short sighted to eliminate a program that is rated in the top 100 of engineering schools. The only state flagship school I know that does not have engineering is Univ of Oregon. Oregon state has the engineering program.
