Delaworld

Has anyone gone yet? How did it go?

Delaworld starts Tuesday.

I went today. I think they did a pretty good job. It's obvious it was going to get boring at times, but I think they did a good job keeping it interesting, but it was still a really long day. You get a nice breakfast, then Roselle makes a welcome speech and the Delaworld leaders do a fun introduction. Then the group was broken up...for me, I then went to the Honors Program Welcome, which was a basic information session about the honors program. Then I got my UD#1 card and set up my UD email...something you may want to think about, you can only have lowercase letters in your email, no numbers. I (and some others around me) had trouble coming up with passwords, as the computer is really picky about what is considered to be "too easy to guess." Then there was a college meeting, just another information session about your actual college. Then I went "Beginning in Honors," which gave some advice about what to do/not to do in your first year at college. (This is the session I actually found the most helpful and entertaining.) Then lunch, which was a MADHOUSE, followed by advisement where you get to pick out your classes. Next was a session that was basically on technology and diversity, and then one on campus safety/alcohol policy/residence halls. There was a lot of dry information, but there were some games and ice breakers, and the student leaders were really energetic, which was nice...it was a long day, but it really covered just about everything.

do your parents go to this with you?

mine is on the 28th, but when i went down for a decision day, parents who had another child at UDel said that it's impossible to get all the important info with even 2 parents going, so bringing a parent is advisable according to them.

I believe parents have their own agenda and follow a different set of meeting/tours.

I just went to Delaworld, and I must say that year after year Delaware has an uncanny ability to attract the hottest girls around.

do you get to put your schedule together or just pick the classes and UD puts a schedule together for you?

At Delaworld you just pick your classes. I believe they said you get your schedule in August.

so we don't get to pick the times of when we take the classes? that kind of stinks.

Anybody know which of the dualing bookstores is the best price/selection for used textbooks. It was funny walking out of Trabant to cross the street and Lieberman's and the Book Exchange were on the corner with info and coupons for free t-shirts. The Lieberman's one is nice...go get one if you are at Delaworld. Obviouisly the campus bookstore didn't have to compete.

I find Lieberman's to be the best for price and selection. However, they do not always buy back textbooks. In that case, the Book Exchange will typically buy back any book, even if it is an old edition.

As freshmen, you don't really get to pick your times of your classes; why? because you're a freshman! The three years above you get priority for scheduling their classes. But don't worry - you'll get that power when you're an upperclassman.

did you guys go to the University Bookstore on Perkins Student center yet? I think they have old& used books there, as well as the exchange books thingie. I just went yesterday, pick all my classes. But I am required to come back again to talk to the advisor, after getting my AP scores. ><
Unlucky me, but anyway, Udel is awesome. They make me happy every single time I go there ^^

Wealth of Information...just utilize drop/add. If you see another section open up, take the better time

and use ratemyprofessor!
