Delayed Decision Email

When Northwestern sent me their decision email, I got it six hours after I was supposed to. Do you think a similar problem could happen with Harvard?

Of course it could. Have you at least determined whether Northwestern’s delay was on their end or your end?

In the past, hotmail, and others, have had problems accepting the H decision emails. Be sure you have done the test emails H offers.

Okay thanks. And I have yahoo. People on the Northwestern thread were freaking out on decision day because Northwestern hadn’t delivered their email yet. (As I was.) Most of us had yahoo, although that could be because it’s a popular choice for email.

Sorry, how do we do the test email?

I’ll need to be sedated if this happens.

^^I think it’s too late to do the test email, since the “application status” section has been shut down. Worst case scenario, your letter will arrive in the mail in a few days.

Send an email to college@fas.harvard.edu with “TEST” (all caps) in the subject, and nothing in the message. You should get a reply within a few minutes to a few hours.

Any issues with gmail?

^ I use gmail and I got my e-mail one hour late, though it displayed the correct time (two minutes past the designated hour) when it actually showed up in my inbox.

^Yeah, that’s what happened with my yahoo account for Northwestern.

FWIW, my son sent an important email on H’s system and got a message that the email hadn’t been delivered yet, but might be at some point in the future…he got this message two days after sending it.

I sent a test a while back and got a delayed response. The ‘time sent’ didn’t correspond with the time I got the email. Hope this doesn’t happen again tonight.
And I’m using Gmail - didn’t expect to have any issues at all, ugh.

I got my admissions decision email about half an hour late–so did the other person from my school who applied. It seemed to be delayed based on geographic region, so just wait patiently knowing that everyone in your area is enduring the same pain!

If you are using an online email client (ymail, gmail etc), your location will make no difference.

If you were both on your school emails, then you may be right.

Yes, be prepared for some sort of delay, just i case. Some emails arrive later, whether it is due to your server or Harvard’s server, is not clear. Be patient, don’t assume a later message means rejection, breathe deeply…

I want my email. :(

Anyone else having problems not receiving their email? My D has Yahoo - but easily received an email a few days ago from admissions…

I’m on GMail, but still nothing.

C’mon Harvard! I’ve got a lacrosse game in an hour. I can’t sit around all night refreshing my browser. :/
