Delayed HS Transcripts & SAT scores

My daughter has applied prior to the October 15th deadline. Her high school has been having issues with their computers - apparently a bad virus that has shut them down pretty much the first month of the school year. Because of this, and the usual busy schedule that GC's keep at the beginning of the year, her counselor has not sent out her transcripts as of yet. What happens to her application if it arrives electronically on time, but her transcripts are delayed? Are there any suggestions on how to communicate this problem to UGA. Her big concern is that if you don't meet the Oct 15th deadline, she has additional essays, etc. to take care of. Would she need to resubmit her application with additional information? What happens to an application that arrives by this date but other pieces are missing?

Also, she recently retook the SAT (beginning of Oct) and this time is having her scores sent to the school. She hadn't sent them from any previous sitting. Will her application not be considered "on time" since the scores won't be received until October 29th from College Board? I'm assuming they send the most recent test results with the older ones on that date and not at separate times. Help!

My advice would be to get information straight from the admissions office. Call them up and ask - (706) 542-8776.

Here’s what I think:
From their website, they said this:
“Completed Part I application and non-refundable $60.00 processing fee, Counselor/School Evaluation form with official high school transcript and official SAT I and/or ACT scores with Writing section must be submitted no later than today.”

But they also said that October test scores are acceptable as long as they’re sent to UGA electronically by College Board.

So, I’m thinking that her SAT scores are okay, but the fact that you don’t have your transcript may be a problem. However, since that’s an issue that’s out of your hands, you’re probably better off calling the admissions office and letting them know the situation. I’m sure they probably deal with this on a case-by-case basis.

If anything, they won’t accept her application, and she’ll have to apply RD.

Good luck! Are you guys really from New Jersey? Long way from Georgia…

Yes we are and my daughter is looking at schools mostly in the south, with the closest being 5 hours away. She isn’t applying anywhere in the NJ, or mid Atlantic area for that matter. Thanks for your advice. She has a guidance counselor appointment this morning and it appears that as along as her info is sent and postmarked by the 15th she’ll be fine. Hopefully her GC will move quickly. I’ll recommend that she makes a call to UGA when she gets home today.
