Dell Laptop Program

How good is the program? My uncle just bought me an Acer because it was on sale, but is offering to buy me the Dell through BC if that’s what I really want. Has anyone had problems with the program? Is it a good deal or a waste of money? Basically, is it worth it?

It's a very good deal, if you already have a computer I'm not sure why you would want another one though.

What I would personally do is ask for a rain check from your uncle on that computer.. yours will seem slow two years from now when your entering into your junior (even though you won't technically "need" a new one). At that point you can still by a dell through the school and you will have a new computer..
vs having two decent new computers now that will be old later..i hope you follow

What I mean is that he'll return the acer if I want the Dell. Sorry, my original post was slightly confusing :)

so i just called BC's tech service or whatever, and they said the new version of the Dells is coming out in August. and you have to order by the 8th. just a heads up.

Get a computer that the specialists at your college are most familiar with. Explain to your uncle about those guys being familiar with problems you are likely to have and how to fix them.

yeah, go with the dell.. its a really good deal especially with the warrenty

wait should i hold off ordering my dell until august?

Intel is releasing their new line of Montevina (Centrino 2) chips soon (some on July 14 and all by the first week of August) and Dell is going to release their new Latitude E series shortly after supposedly (the early screenshots and reported features look amazing fwiw). I'm not sure whether BC is going to offer them but if you have the patience you should wait. I'm seriously considering moving in without a laptop until the Dell release.

Few things to add to my post (unfortunately, internet on my iPod is limited):

Dell has informally announced that the E-series is on its way (waiting for Intel, so it should be anywhere from mid-July to early-August) and if what BC's tech service told ZRealMadridZ was accurate, the Dell laptop program at BC will be updated (hopefully, at the very least, the prices for the D630 will go down if BC does not offer the E-series).

Unfortunately, it appears that the new E-series is not the laptop [url=http://images.macnn.com/esta/content/0801/dellultrathinprototype-lg.jpg]featured in this picture/url.
