Dell Precision notebooks

I'm starting college next year, and my dad is buying me a computer as a high school graduation gift. My dad has a M90 from work, and I really like it. They seem sturdy, and have plenty of power. Would an M70 or M90 be a good computer for college?

The only precision models I see on Dell’s site are the M2400, M4400, and M6400

I don’t think you’d enjoy the 17 inch screen of the M90 at all, unless it’s going to be a desktop replacement that happens to be portable in case of emergencies (Dorms on fire, etc.)

The m70 would be more suitable, but you’d only see the benefits of such a laptop over others when doing intense computational work (vid. editing, gaming, analysis). Otherwise, I believe that a smaller 13"/14" (m70 would be fine) laptop would be much easier to deal with.

I believe the inspiron 13 (personal favorite), or if cost isn’t an issue, the XPS 1330, or even the adamo would suffice for word processing/browsing the internet/moderate gaming (I think the adamo would be excluded from this one)

EDIT: I forgot Lenovo laptops, take a look at the thinkpad T400, or perhaps the IdeaPad U330

check out the Dell studio 15 (15.6" LED display).
