What is the best way to demonstrate interest in Tufts? I applied and requested an interview. Is it okay to email my admissions officer and ask if they have a particular club sport? I can’t find info about this sport on their site so is it appropriate to ask this question?
Are you sure you can’t find that info on the website? I feel like it would be annoying to ask them about that because you’re a senior and you already applied. This question could’ve been asked around summertime when they weren’t as super busy as they are now with reading EDII and RD applications. At this point it is irrelevant because again you already applied. This is something you would ask AFTER you get in, or as you were deciding to apply.
I think that the best ways to demonstrate interest are to:
- Visit campus.
- Go to a Tufts info session in your area.
- Talk to your admissions officer if they visit your school.
- Apply ED or EDII.
- Request an interview.
- Show genuine love for the school by writing a specific and thoughtful “Why Tufts” essay.
- And maybe email them if your question is meaningful–they are aware that students try to show interest by emailing them, so these emails may get annoying. Unless you have something meaningful to ask, don’t ask.
Since you are a senior, most of these things are unavailable to you or out of your control at this point. The best you can do is if you do get an interview, be very specific in your answer to “Why Tufts,” because they will for sure ask you that. Try to give off a “Tuftsy” vibe and be genuine. Tell them what made you fall in love with Tufts, and try to show the traits that Tufts looks for (read their blogs, watch their videos if you are not sure what these are). Fit matters a lot to them. Show that Tufts is a perfect fit for you, and you are a perfect fit for Tufts. I think that this is the best way to demonstrate interest this late in the game.
BTW I was on the Tufts blogs and I found this article: http://admissions.tufts.edu/blogs/inside-admissions/post/demonstrated-interest-a-late-in-the-game-how-to-guide/
