<p>i think what helped me was my essay and where I live. I don't think more than 50 ppl from SC (if even that) applied to WashU regular decision. Also, WashU knows my school pretty well (have visited my school several times), and my guidance counselor is good friends with the admission officer for our region--we also sent one person last year to washu who is now a student ambassador.</p>
